You might need to contact Jaguar Customer service and explain the situation. They may be able to help. If not, then try contacting AT&T. It would seem like AT&T does not know about your new vehicle IMEI and SIM card combination.

My history of dealing with an executive liaison at Jaguar North America is well documented. The tier 1 agent at Jaguar customer support are useless and refer me back to the dealer. I had to go up their food chain to get help and that is when I found an executive liaison. The answer Audrey Scolny received, as quoted in her email response, was:

"I hope this email finds you well today. I thank you so very much for taking the time to provide me with your detailed video and feedback. I was able to send it to the JLR Connect Car Team. They advised they believe the vehicle data package you are referring to is the Wi-Fi trial. They state the Wi-Fi trial is only available to the original owner of the vehicle and is not transferrable."

What I find odd here is that I purchased the vehicle from Plymouth Honda and had it shipped to me. The WiFi trial was over but the vehicle had suitable data connectivity which allowed cellular SOTA to work. It was only when the TCU failed and was replaced it no longer worked. I am working with the dealer ENCORE representative and in her email she states:

"I have just completed phone conversation with Mrs. Lebbo at AT&T about Mr. Steinhorn concern. I was informed that the old IMEI # has not been change to the new IMEI # in the system as of today. Mrs. Lebbo informed me that she will contact Mr. Steinhorn by Tuesday to let him know when the new IMEI number is completed in the system, then at this time the 4g will be in the vehicle for a free trial period without signing up for a plan."

Nobody has contacted me from AT&T and the data is not connecting although there is what appears to be one bar of phone service signal strength. I know the associated phone number but have not yet tried calling it. Note that calling AT&T Car Connect is useless as they have no knowledge of any agreement with Jaguar. I can't help but wonder what might happen is I actually bought the hot spot service or asked for a trial. I am NOT interested in that service but only the data connection supplied with the vehicle. I can see WiFi and check for software updates that way.

A little info on 3G and Verizon. I have a 4G phone older than 4 years. Since the kids(not mine) got out of school last week, I have noted my phone swapping to 3g occasionally. I understand the Network is overloaded and temporarily swapping, those phones that can, over to 3g during the busy spells.

You don't have to be tied to AT&T. You can use GoogleFI, T-Mobile, Verizon, or any other company of your choice that will supply a data plan SIM. There are a few steps to take to enable it in the Infotainment system, but they are not hard and many people have done this. Reference "MOBILE DATA CONNECTIVITY" in iGuide or the owners manual.

As always, thanks for your valued responses to all on this forum. Is it really of value to have a vehicle hot spot when that function is part of the plan I have with T-Mobile on my iPhone. Is it needed in order to use cellular data for SOTA? At the moment there is no connectivity since the TCU replacement. What was provided with the vehicle to allow cellular data use for SOTA and why does no-one at Jaguar seem to understand this kind of stuff? In reading your reference I can at least verify some information with the replacement simm.

SOTA comes via the eSIM in the TCU, or WIFI if the car is connected to that. If you get data in the Jaguar Remote app then the eSIM is working. This eSIM also supports the overhead call buttons and vehicle theft services.

Jaguar has not issued many updates for 19-20MY cars. Infotainment updates and TCU updates are all. Current versions are 21B and 20.2 respectively.

If you have your phone set to have mobile hotspot on all the time while in the car, you can connect the car to it to get the Live data, but you'd get a better and consistent signal using the car's antenna and hotspot with the phone set to use it as a WiFi source. The phone can then use VoIP for clear calls too. Ask T-mobile about adding a data only SIM to your plan.
