Update: Charger harness and BECM parts on back order until December.

I am lemoning this turd. Unbelievable. I hope the buy back process is smooth and seamless, but I doubt it will based on my experience with JLR. Since this is a brand new car (purchased in November) and out of commission since February, will I get full reimbursement plus compensation for the time loss and payments made on the vehicle while it was inoperable?
They are back ordered for 9 months? Wow

Yep. I wasn't even stunned upon hearing the update. Each week has been a series of different frustration since the car was dropped off in February 2022. I doubt Jaguar can find me a similarly equipped and color I-Pace. I may be faced with buying another new car with markups and higher interest rate, great... The whole situation is a festering pile of poo.

I’m surprised you’re still interested in another I pace! It is a unique car though.
My wife and I truly love the I-Pace when it was operational. I'd like a new one...with the naive mindset that mine is a one off. Frankly, there's just not much else on the market that has caught my attention. Maybe Mach-E, Polestar, or BMW i4. I need something that I can accommodate 2 baby carseats and a stroller and roomy enough to go to Home Depot and get crap.

Funny how you didn’t even mention the Model Y.😜

just checked the inventory of new ipaces and Jaguar only has 9 listed?! (And one is a 2020) When I was looking for an I pace a few months ago there were around 20-25, iirc. And i definitely remember there were only about 10 used I pace HSEs available online.

Things have flipped in the past few months. I’m guessing it’s the supply chain decreasing new inventory and off lease models increasing the used numbers.

Does anyone know what the latest TCU and BECM version is? Dealer says mine is uptodate:

TCU 2.1.6 M9D3-70488-0700 updated 11/4/21 ... I thought version 20.2 was the most recent?

You have PIVI pro. The latest update was 3.2.0. It has been rolling out. Some have it, some don’t. The previous version was 3.0.0 which added wireless CarPlay.

20 is in touch pro for older models.

Isn’t Pivi Pro 3.2.0 different from TCU version? Or is the update packaged together?

Do you guys have information on the current lead time to build an I-Pace and accept delivery? I am starting to make contingency plans as I go down the buyback process if my car is not repaired in a reasonable time (December is definitely unreasonable to wait on parts):

Options:
1. Order a new I-Pace
2. Find a new I-Pace on the lot with similar spec as mine —I don’t think this is realistic with the current contracted inventory
3. Leave Jaguar and go with a Volvo C40 (kinda settling).

In hindsight, I should’ve not traded in my trusty Acura TSX when I bought the I-Pace. Now we’re 1 car short in the family and relying on a rental.

It doesn’t seem like anything else out there really interests you. What about sticking with a loaner for the next couple of months while your kitty is in the shop. In the summer/fall there will be the Audi q4 e tron, bmw i4, kia EV6, lucid air GT, and many others. You can then move on one of those.

but the reason we got an I pace was because it does hit the sweet spot for an electric luxury performance vehicle under 90k.

The only wild card is how long will JLR and my dealership feel obligated to keep me in a rental. I assume they’re obligated until all papers are signed and the buyback process is complete which can take several months I am told... It would be poor form to leave a customer stranded. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Week #10 update:

- Charging harness arrived. Shop foreman went to install it to find out JLR sent them an EU spec, so next few days was spent putting my car back together. Zero displacement when it comes to progress. Can’t make this stuff up.

- Informed today that JLR is agreeing to buyback my car. Just need to submit financial documents and contract. I hate the idea that I am likely going to be forced back on the market to buy a new car where the interest rates and ADMs are worse. So over this.

I’m thinking about C40 - but no ETA on when it’ll arrive. Maybe ID4 - but it’s ugly. I think I might have to settle with a Polestar 2 or MachE. I am not putting any stock in JLR helping me find a MY22 I-Pace replacement.

Are you joking? AAAAAAHHHHH 👺

Oh what a relief! Congrats. More patience required I'm afraid, but if they've agreed you're good to go.

I was spending quality time with our Canadian friend @rcomeau today (he was in town!) and we were both remarking on the fact that the I-Pace is still unique and there's nothing like it! Now if it just worked ...

ID4 would be a tough pill to swallow after the I-Pace. Great family hauler but not the performance we're all looking for. I hate to say this but I were in your situation at this point I would seriously consider leasing a PHEV and going back to full EV in two years. I have an R1S on order (to add to, not replace, the I-Pace for long offroad or camping trips), but that's still a year out.

Come to think of it, I might lease an EV6. Sharp car, not the same, but would tide over for a couple years.

I am too thinking about going down a lease route. Don’t want to blow tons of money on a car I don’t absolutely love or intend to keep. If only the snowflake I-Pace worked or a unicorn replacement magically revealed itself...

After your experience I have a deposit down for a lucid pure. It should be ready next year, if my I pace is in the shop then I can get that one. Lol. Otherwise I plan on keeping the I pace.

Just read this. There aren't a lot of C40 out for sale anymore. Due to parts shortage Volvo actually told some customers that they will not be getting the C40 they ordered. There are however a lot of XC60 Recharge Extended Range (PHEV) at the dealers. You may want to check that out. The EV range is around 40 miles. The same goes with XC40 Recharge Twin, not a lot out there just like the C40.

Also they stop taking pre-order of Polestar 2s. You can only get what is pre-configured for delivery. Parts shortage is really doing a number on manufacturing. I was lucky the dealer close to me had a C40 in the color combination I want that another customer gave up on (got an XC90 PHEV instead). I am leasing the C40.

Oh, don't even bother with the Kia EV 6 and Hyundai IONIQ 5. I hear dealer markup is $10K.

Good luck and happy hunting.
