Which model year I-pace do you have? There's a known problem with some 19-20MY cars having wiring harness issues affecting the park lock mechanism in the front motor. I strongly suggest getting it to a dealer for inspection and repair before you get stranded at an inconvenient time.

There is a recall for the wiring harness in Europe, I think, but not in the rest of the world ???

 

Thats what I also heard on this forum and the British forum. Not sure why it wouldn't be a global fix.

 

Welcome to the "club" ) The issue is 100% wiring harness. There are four possible symptoms:

• sudden stop when you drive very very slowly.
• ratching noise in different situations
• error - Gearbox failure detected
• Flashing D or P.

It happens to all the vehicles of MY18-19.

The dealer should change the wiring harness to the updated version with a longer section. It takes at best two days.
On the left - the new one, on the right - the problem old one.

Mine was fixed yesterday but since there is no guarantee I chose to repair the section and make it 10cm longer.

So where is the line drawn between isolated service vs. a recall?
My car has been to the dealer a number of times but no harness update.
I have to notice the symptoms before they will look at the problem.

I have looked for this connection with no luck finding it. Can you give us a general idea as to where this connector is and can it be seen without a major tear down?

 

It is on the motor. It can be seen from beneath a bit but in order to do anything with it one needs to tear down a lot. The black wire was faulty.

Can you extend the wires while the harness is on the car, if yes, are there many parts that needs to be removed, more interested in HV cables?

The harness is very long with many connectors. I believe you just need to get access to the faulty plug and fix it. It took the mechanic about 6 hours to get things done, however, he is inventive.

 

It's a 2 day+ repair at the dealer. It is not likely to be easily accessible.

 

Thank pal, I'm just out of warranty so the stealer wants to charge me 3,5k for the job (they included the actuator without even looking at it). Since my error is still intermitent, I'd rather extend the harness. I know a shop who does wiring looms for race cars but I'd like to know how much they need to dismantle so they can get to that specific plug as I suspect @Andlit was doing.

Thank you, I've seen all the info on this subject. I'll try to get to that plug only, probably from underneath and extend the wires.
