Steering wheel problems: volume button stopped working and odd lightning.

I've got a strange problem.
  • The volume button not longer works. So I'm not able to access menu. All the other buttons work as well as volume control.
  • Left side of the steering wheel controls is much lighter than the right side.
  • When the car is turned off the left side stays lit for some time and the right one goes off immediately.

I've tried:
1. disconnecting both batteries.
2. Removing #33 fuse under the rear seat/
3. Changed and tried another used part with the same negative result.

Any ideas or experience?

The problem reads like a clockspring or wiring harness issue.
For brightness, have you tried adjusting the brightness using the control? Does it make any difference? Do both switch packs vary intensity?

Hi. The flat wires cable was damaged. The electrician mixed some wires and said there were a couple of spare ones. But charged about 200$. From what I see you'd better just replace the part, with a used one, it costs about 50-60$ only. That round plastic part I posted photo of, just behind the steering whell. Inside it are the flat cables that went broke.

To sumarize. If your buttons on the right side are off it's more likely just a #33 fuse under rear seat (unplug/ignition/plug) . If like I had left side bahaves strange you need to replace first round plastic part behind the wheel (there are flat cables inside it that are broken)
