We're getting a California Lemon Law buyback from Jaguar. The whole thing has interesting. I reached out. They got back to me. I dawdled. I sent in the requested information. They came back with a horrible offer. I said **** no. The woman asked if I had bought it new. I was like duh. I gave you the sales receipt. She said to scan the back of the sales contract and send that in too. I did so. It was all the legalese of the sale. A few days later, I get a California lemon law buyback offer minus mileage at the first service for the issue. Quite pleased with the number.

But y'all can't get rid of me. I'll still lurk and BS for a while. This is my favorite car forum of all time. I'm not getting another Jag, though. We'll make do with three cars for a bit and then maybe get a cheap EV to tide us over. 4 adult drivers in one household. Oof!

So no attorney or legal process? Too bad JLR did not do this from the start. Could have saved a lot of costs and had more good vibes from a customer base.

"Another one bites the dust ..."

Hang in as long as you can, the experience of the last 5-6yrs is worth sharing.

As another ex-photon red club member, it is a shame they are disappearing from the roads - I am yet to see anything other than white, firenze red and grey on the roads. These cars had a very distictive look. That said my portofino blue wants a club.

Frankly, I don't miss the old FE (with the exception of the heated windscreen), and find the 2024's to drive as well if not better. And the new grill - with the right color and package it fits the car.

Well, there are at least a couple of us in the Portofino Blue club! I still like the old style grille better, though.

I am getting closer to having the only 2019 Photon Red FE. Sorry to see you go. Club Photon is dwindling.
Yep. Between the fire liability and getting to recoup most of the cost of the vehicle, I think it's worth trading in. I do love the color. I loved it when we got it, and it grew on me.

None at all. That was my next step if they did not give me the lemon offer.

So happy to hear that you had a good outcome! (I predicted it ;)
Sorry to see you (mostly) go, I'll see you around!

Yes, this is exactly what I said here : https://www.i-paceforum.com/threads/ipace-lawsuit.8847/page-2?post_id=98980#post-98980
JLR missed a good opportunity to transform this problem into a big marketing campaign.

Please do stick around; you'd be missed otherwise.

Gratz on the buyback, but more importantly, what are your thoughts on Andor?
My least favorite logic gate. I far prefer NAND and XNOR.

I loved the heated windscreen the two times I used it on purpose, but didn't care for the way it messed with GPS reception and how easy it was to accidentally turn on.

This is the way! Three-year lease, under warranty, and three Jaguar dealers near me (at least for now) in case service is needed. Loved my 2019 but am already appreciating Pivi Pro and a few extra goodies that weren’t in my SE.

We’ll see if it’s worth buying for the residual in 2028; I suspect there will be a lot of advances in EVs by then.

Test drove a GLB 300, an ID4, and a Lyric today. Sat in a BZ4X. Also looked at the Ioniq 6, and my wife said it looks like a hotdog. I think it's more a hoagie, but I'm sure @ipace_wanted can correct both of us.

GLB 300 is a fine vehicle. Pretty smooth ride. Comfortable and pleasant interior. Kind of mediocre on the acceleration. Small enough to be easy to drive. Some good lease rates at the moment.
ID4 is a bit slow, has a good by not great ride, and handles decently. The interior is very VW, which is to say nicer than most competitors in the price range. Pretty cheap used too, not much over 20k.
BZ4X is like an electric Crosstrek. It feels tiny, claustrophobic, and cheap inside. The center console is huge and solid. Did not want to drive it, so did not. Slimy salesperson of the day award.
Lyric comes in some gorgeous colors. We like the light blue, Numbus they call it. It's a bit bigger than we want, both in width and length. The interior feels large and airy. It accelerates well, and it handles like a Cadillac. It definitely does not want to hustle when turning. A great lease price is available for the car it is and even better as a loaner.

I want to now look at the Optiq (none left on the lot), Blazer, Equinox, Aariya, Polestar 2, EX30, EX40, GV60, GV70, and SUV e-trons.

Polestar 2 is a great used deal right now. (I assume there are a lot of lease returns.) Strongly considered buying one after driving as a rental last year. Ended up with the I-Pace instead.

Lyriq is on my list. Thanks for the review. Gravity, R1S and Scout also possibilities.
Those look nice but we want smaller.

Lyriq would be on my list too. In second place after the I-Pace :D

I forget, do the Audis support one-pedal driving? The fact that the Macan doesn't would be a complete dealbreaker for me.
At least one list I found says yes for the Audis. I personally prefer 1 pedal driving, but it's not a big deal to deal with two.

The Lyriq has it. The ID4 and GLB do not. My i4 has it.

Audis and Porsches do not use regen for anything but small costing drag until you press the pedal. It’s a design decision for “natural” feel and efficiency. But they have excellent blended braking.

I have mentioned this elsewhere, but I would also suggest looking at the Genesis GV60. If you’d like, it’s aesthetic it has very good drive characteristics, very good technology, and has very strong one pedal driving you can set the region level anywhere from light to full on.

I have not checked recently, but last year the Honda Prologue lease deals were crazy good.
Yep. So many options. Their leases are still good, but not quite as good as they were.

Agreed. That is a risk in up grading to a 2024, however with a new 5yr bumper to bumper warranty, and 8yrs on the battery you are covered. The only issue is whether you'll be getting a second buyout at a future time.

If I do the math going back to 2019, I will have paid $88k for 10yrs of no cost driving, and still have a usable vehicle, or get a buyback comparable to current offers in 2029. Going the new car vs used route a cost of $9k/yr doesn't sound bad. I doubt my wife's X5 hybrid will be worth much at 10yrs old, so would give the same cost analysis.
We figure we normally pay about 10k per year per car in depreciation for our nice cars. Our Forester and FRS are much cheaper, of course, after ~13 years.

The ID4 has adjustable regen that gets plenty strong.
So many options.

Thanks for your notes. I got my first lousy offer .. and then mentioned that this was a CA car. I have sent in the purchase info....and have not heard back...yet. Will email him tomorrow. Already replaced the Jag with a....hang on.....Cadillac Lyriq. Very nice car.

I drove a Lyriq recently. It’s just not for me. Too soft and floaty. A good commuter car but not in the least a “sporty” drive. Plus the build quality was not what I wanted at all. Wife got a newer IPace after her buyback. I test dove the Macan 4S electric and the Taycan Sport Tourismo 4s and all are far superior in every way I consider important. I will probably go for the Taycan for my next ride.

Taycan is too big. Both needs regen on the accelerator. Fantastic cars, I'm sure.

I told the sales guy that the Lyriq rides like a Cadillac. Wife is fine with that. Not me. Then again, i only tried sport 1. I know there's sport 2 and 3 as well. Might be stiffer.

I would be interested in what you finaly decide, snowflake. I honestly don’t see anything out there that gives me the thrill of the iPACE, and the frugal part of me doesnt want to she’ll put for a new car. I really still love the iPACE; just hate the issues it has had (for me both a battery and windshield).

second question, did you say anything to Morley to make sure you got the California lemon law valuation?

Does anyone who has been contacted by Morley know how long it takes. JLR verified my info a month ago, but Morley hasn’t reached out yet. I’m more than happy for them to take their sweet time, and indeed would prefer it if this dragged out through August, but I also don’t want to fall through the cracks.

I haven’t gotten to the “send documents they need” phase. Basically, mid-April I got a call from JLR asking to confirm my info and telling me to expect to be contacted about the buyback offer. That has not happened yet.

WRT newer iPACEs, when did the entertainment hardware get upgraded? Really, it‘s the only thing that bothers me about my existing car.

I would definitely get a CPO car or extended warranty. I like to keep my cars about 10 years, and I think I’d be sweating a major breakdown after the warranty expires.

2022. Yes, Pivi Pro is a major upgrade over ICTP, more responsive and less glitchy. Personally, I am thrilled so far with the new 2024 I leased to replace my 2019. The only things that seem “dated” compared to newer rivals are overall range and DC fast charging speed, which don’t affect my enjoyment 99% of the time as a daily driver.

Three years from now, I expect newer technology to make these cars look obsolete and will likely want something else; if not, I can buy it for the residual and still enjoy two more years under factory warranty. (I wouldn’t own these without some kind of warranty coverage.) I had previously bought an extended warranty for the 2019, but never had need to make any claims before the buyback.
