If you keep having modules failing they will keep replacing.

Just chiming in here. In the 9 months I have owned my ipace, I calculated that the total number of days the cat has been in the shop to be 137 days- not including this most recent visit (car is in the shop as I type). This is about 4.5 months of the 9 months of ownership.

The last visit was to replace module 16 and (a month later) this recent visit is to replace module 26. Thank goodness I’m still under warranty but I am concerned what happens once the warranty expires?
Going to try and get my money back and will likely go to Porsche- non ev as I have heard from friends they have had issues as well.

I guess the technology is too new for it to be dependable
Thew new Tacan and new Macan are based in 2nd generation platforms, so hopefully they learned from the Tacan and are getting better. The battery issue is a disaster and has happened for just about all car manufacturers that use LG batteries.

Charged to 100% 2 days ago and unfortunately got the dreaded traction battery fault again. This was about the 5th time I fully charged since my first module replacement 2 months ago. Charging limited to 72% now.

This is an issue that will only avalanche across the I Pace world. The confidence in this vehicle is dwindling. Each press of the start button is nerve-racking, as one can only hope they don't see one of the dreaded battery related error message's resulting in tow service and months at the shop awaiting parts. What is the difference between a trade in and a buy out (assuming Jaguar will approve.) Each are insultingly low, with each going to be roughly the same - 20K or so.

I am coming up on my car being in the shop for 4 weeks now, either waiting on a battery or battery sealant at anther dealership 150 miles away. No one has been able to clarify what battery part I am getting. Watching the app determined that they moved my car into the shop a week after it arrived at the shop via a tow truck from my dealer. They have removed my traction battery. This started by me taking my car into my dealer for 5 small items to replace or repair. An email from Jaguar reported it would be a while before my parts arrived. Why would they have torn apart my Jag without having the parts and leaving me without a car. I am wondering if this whole thing was just to get me out of my running car, so they could gain a brownie point with the Federal recall results.

I may not be remembering this right, but I seem to recall when they replaced my second module, the battery box failed a pressure test so they needed to replace the seal (and the top cover if I recall). They did not know this would be needed until after they repaired the pack and tried to reassemble it.

My service writer said the wait time on the seals was almost as bad as for the battery modules. He ordered both immediately when the car was diagnosed. I've been driving the wth 72% max charge since March. That sucks, but it's better than the car sitting at the dealer waiting for a new seal.

Long time reader on the forum first time poster. Was checking in if anyone had success with a buyback. 2019 HSE here. I have owned it for two years and it's been in the shop for one of thoes years (about 340 days) with very short stints of 'ownership' between. First failure was 12v battery, over a month in the shop, then traction failure, they replaced one module, took about 5 months, then software and a few weeks until failure came up again, few more months. Then a slew of random things like charge port, leaking windshield, suspension, another month and a half with no loaner. I got it back on a Friday and Monday it left me stranded with what they are calling a pawl motor and a few other things they are being coy about, that was first week in May and they are still working on it. Curious what they all replaced this time. Now the main warranty has run out besides battery so I'm terrified when the day comes to take it home. I tried to get jlr to buy it back but they said keep the car but here is 4k off a new or cpo. The dealer won't trade it in at any price so not sure what good that does me. Hard to sell a broken car at the dealership. I asked to buy a warranty with the 4k and they said no. I'm not finding anyone posting about a successful buy back? Since everything but the body is new am I good to go or should I loose my butt and sell? Sorry for the rant and thanks for reading.

Might want to hire a lawyer, but since you bought a used car, and since the warranty has passed, things will be difficult I would expect. It also probably depends on the laws of your state.

I may be able to provide some insight soon, unless of course I am sworn to secrecy.

That would be great if you are, everything seems so hush, looking forward to another reply from you. I have no idea what to do but dont feel like this is not the end of the issues, especially with the battery. Love the car when it works but don't have confidence it will continue to work.

I did try the lawyer route back when it was still under warranty, about 6 months into shop time. The warranty just expired like 2 weeks ago. In short after negotiations they were wiling to offer a small amount, less than 10% of the cost. They wanted me to sign off all future liability, which was not worth it to me and the lawyer agreed and suggested I pass on the offer.

Those appear to have been lemons. The buybacks we’re talking about are in lieu of waiting for a battery replacement under H484.

Oh wow.... As a potential ipace buyer (next June when Ioniq 5 lease runs out) I am concerned over what year to get to avoid these LG battery models (or is that possible?) any advice on what MY ti go for/avoid?

Please point me to other chat if this has already been covered.

Thanks
I would avoid this car altogether. 10 month in service and Jaguar has no spare parts (inverter).
