Currently running an iPace in Texas USA but moving to Spain in the next few months. Won't be taking my current ride because shipping costs etc. If I want to remain with the i-Pace gang in Spain, anybody got on the ground stories of issues, charging networks etc ? Specifically in the Barcelona area ? Thinking if the EV devaluation has hit Europe as it has in USA, then this could be a reasonable opportunity to upgrade from my 2019 to the last year of the current model. I know parking is the big problem but some apartments have fairly good parking arrangements locally but not sure if that has the same "home charging" opportunity.

Otherwise it might be back to the F-Type lol....

1. How long will you be in Spain?
2. You will rent an apartment in Barcelona?
3. Will you commute?
4. Do you want to do long-ish road trips?
5. What will you do with the car after your stay?

Europe has so many more choices for EVs ... I would go in with an open mind and find the 'right' EV (if you can figure out L2 charging), certainly before considering another ICE thing.

1/A minimum of three years maybe more
2/ Yes, might look to buy later
3/ No I work remotely from home so car would be for road trips or things where public transport wouldn't be ideal
5/ Sell it probably

Spain is a large, diverse country with mediocre and meandering highways. Driving in cities is horrifically difficult, and finding parking is worse. If you live in the countryside or a town and want to take long car trips, you'll want something you can fuel up. EVs are doable but a pain. If you're going for long drives once or twice a year, you can get relatively cheap rental rates as an American. Also, driving in a large car in European cities is extra awful.

I've driven two significant car trips in Spain and Portugal.

Also, almost everybody smokes, and outside of the major cities, they're not especially educated but they are especially liquored up. I hope you like the smell of diesel exhaust and having a full belly when you sleep because of exceedingly late dinners.

Wow three years. Nice.

I would absolutely get an EV anywhere in Europe, barring unusual circumstances which don't seem to apply in your case.

I don't think road trips in Europe are a challenge any more. You just have to plan a bit, just like here. And European CCS2 works a lot better than our stupid CCS1 here.

Given your situation I would consider making L2 charger availability a criterion in looking for an apartment. If that's not an option, a fast charger near a cafe will do the job, if you don't drive a ton every day, as you won't have to worry about battery longevity.
