I have a 2019 that has been absolutely trouble-free (except for replacing a 12-volt battery about 15 months ago). It's been the literal "belle of the ball" at many EV carshow events for the past 5 years. I have all updates/recalls on it. Never had any problem. An 80% charge shows 220 mile range - meaning a full charge would close to 265 based on my driving. It's only been charged to 100% about a dozen times in its life, and only ever rained on a few times. I wish I had a relative who needed it because it's been taken care of, but ... it's for sale on Cars.Com if you'd be interested.

I argued for years that (back in 2019) Jaguar could have eaten Tesla's lunch if they had just advertised this car at ALL in the U.S. It was a nicer car than either the model S or X (all that were available at that time, and both cost over $100K back then). Jaguar made the best EV available in 2019.
Having researched the i pace extensively I can only agree with you 100%. What car maker doesn't build on having a World Car of the Year after launch?

Almost every early review highly praised the car's styling, performance, build quality and luxurious interior and even current reviews STILL describe it as one of the best driving ev's. Why Jaguar didn't jump on that to REALLY progress their EV revolution is beyond me.
 
And if a fault IS detected I take it the 8 year warranty covers it fully?

That's a major concern! I would have assumed that the 8 year battery warranty covered ANY faults within the warranty period? I'll definitely be checking with the dealership BEFORE buying any car and get something in writing to confirm it would be covered.
 
I am one of the lucky ones. We've had our 2022 I-Pace for two years now and it has never broken down. It's still a joy to drive and the only issue is that the Lane Keeping Assistance goes out every so often for a short period of time (dealer can't fix it unless they see it broken). I had one weird episode where range display was totally off, but that was when brand new and I chalked it up to the car learning. The H441 update did not reveal any problems and I typically get just over 230 miles of range in warm weather and 220 in cold.
 
Been considering an HSE spec i-pace for some time (face-lift 2021 spec with Pivi Pro etc) but concerned about potential reliability issues.

On-line reviews for Jaguar in general APPEAR to be quite poor but just how bad is Jaguar (and the i-pace in particular) for reliability?
As many point out there are owners experiencing no issues and others with several issues. My 2020 HSE, bought in 2022 with 9k mileage had no issues until recently. The dreaded 12v battery issue which resulted in replacement of both 12v batteries under warranty.
 
Mine has had only one 12v battery replaced under warranty - That aside no issues after 4 years and 15,000 miles. Compared with a previous M3 - where the 12v battery was $600 to replace! it has been a dream. Plus living in Seattle and getting electricity for 6c per Kw it is feakishly cheap to run.
 
I had a first year custom built car, so not the first batch but maybe a few months after that. Besides various updates the only "fault" I had was with wiring harness rubbing and being damaged which caused some false drive train faults. Once they repaired that and replaced the 12v battery after 3 years (which will eventually fail) I honestly have had no issues with mine.

So I am one of the lucky ones.
 
We've had our MY 2023 just shy of 1 year. We have a 2015 Nissan Leaf and knew we would not be going back to ICE. Even with all the awards, I was very nervous going into Jaguar, but there simply was not another EV I was interested in. Fortunately, other than a couple of electronic gremlins that disappeared on their own, have not had a single problem so far (albeit only 10k km).
 
Have seen several references to the extended warranty saving the day re component failure on the i-pace so would probably look into that. I take it this can be added to a car as long as the original 3 year warranty hasn't ran out?

Any idea how long you can extend the warranty and what it costs?

I have a 2020 I Pace and the 5 year factory warranty is about to expire. The dealer quoted 6000 and since I love my car and have had minimal problems all covered by factory I’m thinking it’s a good deal. Cost quoted is for 50,000 miles and 5 year.
I see nothing on the market that compares to my I pace. So since its a cherry, I’m keeping it.

Could not agree more. Their demise is due to poor marketing. Handling and range are about as good as there is at the moment. The ONLY sporty looking car besides the S
 
As a prospective I-Pace owner I must thank all of you for all of the helpful advice and experience you have shared. I am reminded of the account of the retirement dinner for the Managing Director of Jaguar who led them through some of the toughest years of the Company (I believe it was Sir John Egan), in his closing speech he reflected, “We made a lot of great cars, we just never knew which ones they were!”

I have one of the originals, bought in Nov 2018. I 'love' the car when it works, but I'm one of the unlucky ones. Complete heating/cooling replacement, steering harness, 2 12V batteries, and many other minor things. Then I caught up in the H441 recall issues and had major battery issues, including no parts for many months. Car was undrivable for 2+ months waiting for parts, but it did recently get fixed (multiple cells replaced). I am moving on, but I will admittedly miss the car. Maybe it's just luck of the draw - my first issue was ~ 30 days after purchasing. I only have ~ 30K miles so I would not want to find out what happens in the next 30K. Perhaps if you do your homework and look at all service records you can make an informed decision. I would not recommend buying the one I owned (will still own at the moment), but that's just one data point. If you get one of the good ones, you will love it!
 
My 2020 HSE accumulated more shop time for repairs in the first 3 years of ownership than 30 years of Subaru ownership. The last year has been better. I've had a total of 4 repairs: AC, remote locking antenna, and both 12V batteries. Time to get parts and time to complete the repair have been a big contributor to the total down time. While I like driving the iPace, my next car won't be a Jaguar, and I don't plan to own it past the warranty expiry date.
 
5 year history of an I-Pace in UK - owned since March 2019 from new.
I am posting this summary on my car’s fifth anniversary to give others, especially ‘new’ owners, a sense of what owning an I-Pace has been like over an extended ownership period. I consider my car ‘reliable’, in that on only one occasion has it been undriveable (failed 12v starter battery). Some may think I have also been lucky, e.g., I have not had windscreen or other water ingress problems. There have of course been minor failures, which I list below.
Mileage now: 38,739 miles.
SE model year 2019; bought March 2019 (ordered in August 2018). Extras specified: 18” wheels, 4 zone HVAC, HUD, air suspension, premium headlights, fog lights, 360 camera view, ionizer, cooled glovebox. Reasoning: Intended to keep long term, so SE with extras was cost-effective, did not want matrix headlights due to software problems in 2018, maybe should have specified active dynamics in retrospect. Factory fitted 18” wheels for maximum range and to avoid kerbing damage.
Jaguar Assist callouts and dealer actions since new: All items paid by warranty except replacement of 12v batteries and tyres. Extended warranty taken out (twice) with Car Care – official JLR version.

Thanks for your feedback. Definitely seeing a wide range of owner experiences but the poor quality of JLR service is consistent. Whilst I prefer the look of the i pace compared to most other EVs I'm now really struggling to convince myself that it would be a sensible purchase.

Not sure I agree with your statement "the poor quality of JLR service is consistent". I've recently found a very good dealership and have praised their actions. Does this help you in the UK? No, but there again any comments on the US forum regarding service quality isn't of much value to you either.
On a positive sense, at least you will have the option of a JLR official extended warranty - something that JLRNA doesn't offer us.
If you are looking for a used vehicle that works everyday or can be fixed at the local independent repair shop in a few hours stick to an established old model ICE. It's really a question of whether you need a vehicle to provide everyday must have transportation, or are you looking for a vehicle that is fun to drive and you don't have to rely upon for basic needs?

I have a 2022 and have the same problem! At first I thought it was related to starting the car too quickly but it happens randomly. I don’t use my LKA so it’s not a big deal for me.

OK, well there seems to be a negative narrative around dealers, my take is that many simply don't have the training or experience to adequately understand electric cars and tend to bullshit instead. My own dealer is excellent and one of the pioneers in reporting tech issues to JLR.
