Center Display Issues

So I have something strange going on with my I-Pace erratically the center display does NOT display what I have set for it to do. I have it set for Map, and sometimes I will start out and I only get the Car image there. Other times the Map is displayed right from the start.

Also surprisingly, if I go to the set-up I will see map selected but when I return the map is not there.
However, if I select something else like none or media and then switch back to map it displays correctly.

Anyone else have seen this issue?

Yes, I've seen it. Normally if I give it a destination the map will reappear.
Not sure what triggers it. It could be a loss of GPS signal since it was raining. It just happened yesterday for the first time.

Also another unrelated display bug:

The AC knob switched from °F to C°, but the dash display was OK. I checked the menu, and it was set to °F, so I switched to °C then back to °F and it was fixed.

I think we need a way to contact Jaguar with bug reports.

I also had the issue with the Celsius vs Fahrenheit. I changed to Celsius and back to Fahrenheit and it went away. However, now my center screen is completely black. I can see a slight backlight, but nothing else. My climate dial controls used to have numbers but they too are black. The bottom screen is also black. I have driven it to several locations, turning the vehicle on and off... I have also pulled Fuse #5 and Fuse #16. I have an appointment on Friday, but was hoping there was some way to reset the system to see if I can get it back.

Did you turn the interior light knob fully clockwise? It's to the left side lower area of the dash. There are also brightness settings and formats in both the left side steering wheel roller menu, and in General Settings in the center stack?

We've have seen the car icon as well. Typically, it happens on the dash. FWIW, I've found that it never happens if we leave the car in Park until the map display appears. Putting the car in reverse immediately after starting the car almost always yields a car icon.

Thanks for the help, McRat - I checked the brightness and it is all the way up. If you go up to the car even if it is off, their is a faint backlight visible - it appears to me as if the computer is frozen...

So, if anybody finds out what the car's <Ctrl><Alt><Delete> equivalent is, please publish it here, somewhere!!

I used to have a Fisker Karma. Older tech, no doubt, but still a rolling computer. Once every year or so, you just had some issue where the fix was to unplug the car from the battery (a connector under the hood) and let it sit for 5 minutes and plug it back in. Then, everything would be fine again.

I would think there is a fuse to the main computer to power it completely off for a hard reboot.

Otherwise there should be a main battery emergency disconnect for first responders. Owners' manual may have some hints but this seems pretty aggressive.

I don't have mine yet so have not looked into it.

If you set the car to Emergency Energy Save mode through the MyEV page 2 menu, the center console will black out, but the instrument cluster still works.

So how do you get out of the Emergency Energy Save mode? In the manual it states this:

"If required, press the touchscreen to switch it on for a limited period of time."

However, nothing happens when I touch the screen and everything else works fine. The adaptive cruise control works, the full map in the instrument cluster works. However, my phone does not connect, the music doesn't play, the Talk button does nothing and I have no cameras. The vehicle drives great and has no reduction in performance.

Don't try to do a 'hard reset' you may corrupt the firmware. Pulling fuses, etc. is not the best thing to do in a vehicle that has so many embedded CPU's.
At this point let the dealer handle it (bite my tongue), maybe in the future there may be a published procedure to self-rectify these anomalous events.

Edit - DOH!! you beat me to it.

Often there is a REBOOT button sequence for cars. If that is not available, there is always disconnecting the 12v battery terminal. But I'd ask about that one one first. I'd do it any ICE/Diesel car, and it must be fairly safe to do with EVs (or you could never replace the battery), but there is very little info on the i-Pace.

It does say you might have to recalibrate the power windows if you disconnect the battery. Ouch. But that tells you it does reset at least the Body Control Module, and most likely the Powertrain Control Module.
The biggest worry might be the traction battery. If you reset the Battery Control Module, I have no idea what happens.

Here's a technique to reset the Guess-o-Meter:

Unless you like living in a dream world, I'm not sure why you would want to do this. It's not like it buys you any more actual miles per charge. After almost a month of regular driving and some fairly cold temperatures (for South Carolina, freezing is "fairly cold"), our car registers 211 miles on a full charge, and it's proven to be about 99% accurate in the last couple weeks of extended travel.

I've had all of the issues above PLUS my screens went dead on me! Two times in my first week of ownership! They replaced three modules and it still happening. If it continues then they have said they will replace the entire system. I don't even have 300 miles yet on the car! :-(

Yes, I'm sure that at the Art of Performance event thay must have played this trick since obviously everyone was beating the crap out of the cars with full acceleration and yet, when getting in the car, range was over 400 km..:grin2:

Haven't had time to take it to the track yet, but I image tracking it for a day will probably slaughter the GOM.

Center Display

I took my IP to get mud flaps put on. The service tech performed the software update on the car. When I left the dealership, the center display nor console display was working at all. I tried locking and unlocking the car, but still not working. The technicians were gone for the day, so now I have to wait until Monday at the earliest. Service manager said it was the software update that caused the issue, but he has no one to look at it until Monday.

I picked up my Jaguar from the Chandler dealer and it was indeed frozen. They were able to reset it and it is currently working again. I think they need to have a reboot sequence just like Tesla. If it happens again, I will see if I can escalate the issue. I am just happy I can listen to music and use the navigation system and use the hands free phone features.

Looking at Europe where the iCat has been on the road for longer with more people, it seems pretty clear that the software issues are consistently really serious. Jag-you-are clearly underestimated the complexity of this dimension of EVs. I do not have high hopes for OTA at this point, given that software updates performed by dealers don't even seem to work consistently. The fact that Tesla is a Silicon Valley company gave them a leg up in terms of anticipating these types of issues, and in having the local talent to make things work. This is going to be a huge learning curve for VW/Audi as well.

It's a matter of whether you believe the U should be pronounced as "oo" or "you". Americans are really saying Jag oo ar and slurring it slightly. Moving rapidly from an "oo" to "ar" makes an artificial "w" sound. Brits say: Jag You Ah (with an almost Bostonian disregard for the trailing "r").
