Some ******* shattered the small rear passenger window, the triangular one. Scratched up the black trim under it too. Now I have to figure out how to get it repaired. :(

That sucks. As a friend of mine always says “we just can’t have nice things”. I just read that Tesla has incorporated some feature that uses the cars cameras and sensors to monitor the car while it’s locked. Seems like something JLR could program in.
Very sad. At what point does the OEM alarm start making noise?

Security cameras and messaging isn't going to stop it. An auto burglary takes a minute or two. They break a back window, and try to unlock the door. Sometimes a side window.
You end up with a great video of somebody burglarizing or stealing your car. Modern cars have tracking, so it's mostly a burglary. PD's normally take auto burglary reports over the phone, and don't put a lot of effort into them. They often say, "contact your insurance". Later, the burglar usually promotes themselves to more serious crimes, but are let go the first time because they have no record.
That's the problem with not prosecuting petty crimes, way more petty thieves graduate into serious crimes.... And then you end up with Chicago...

St. Louis tops the crime charts. Chicago is up there, but nothing like the conservative press would have you believe. Not even top 10.
I hope the I-Pace replacement glass parts are starting to be available through glass repair
companies or through the dealer.
With the I-Pace being so new, it may take a while to get the parts.

Crime peaked in Chicago in 2016 and has been falling. I don't think a responsible news outlet would have claimed in 2018 that Chicago was having a runaway murder rate.
This was mostly marketing to the media for more Fed funding for Chicago PD and even tighter gun control.
@ McRat, Kind of like the ring doorbell. Still good technology and I’d welcome it on my car.
I’m sorry it sucks. First to have your car damaged, then having to deal with repairing it.
