Thanks. I do really want MY I-Pace back. I don’t like driving this thing. BUT it’s better than nothing or something less desirable. I am lucky to have it. I’m about to make my next car payment and I know my car is just sitting on the lot.

I’m about to make my next car payment and I know my car is just sitting on the lot.I understand where you are coming from. You just want to drive the car you bought. I wonder if it is worth a shot to replace the wiring harness and see if that fixes your issue while you wait for the new motor? Not sure the harness would affect the motor speed difference issue, but hey maybe it's worth a shot.
As far as the gas goes, you do have a pretty nice loaner and the miles you put on the loaner presumably mean less miles on the I-Pace from a wear and tear perspective. From a strictly money perspective, the reimbursement rate per mile on a vehicle is $0.56/mile for business related travel. If you look at that as a savings on not driving your I-Pace, it adds up pretty quickly if you drive much. Again, I understand your desire to just have your I-Pace back. Maybe this information makes you feel a little better about buying the gas, maybe not.
Good luck in either case!
See if your service person will try the harness fix like @rcomeau suggested and you might be surprised! I understand that payment feeling with the car in the shop...Thanks. Great to hear a positive outcome. Hope you many years of happy driving ahead.9/11/2021 update:

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to share my experience and what I gathered from my service technician. Talked directly to the main technician for about 20 mins yesterday. He explained a number of things about my particular case. In no particular order:
-ran and updated software diagnostics
-couldn’t replicate until one of the employees was going about 70 on the highway and car locked up.
-clocked that the 2 motors were out of sync and rear motor would lock up because it didn’t know what to do.
-he explained that it is possible that my front motor was just a bad one that happened to be installed in my car (lucky me).
-replaced HV cabling (from Egypt via UK) along with various other parts and ordered a new front motor (~$16K dealer cost for the part. Not including shipping.)
-when they opened the crate, a forklift driver punched a hole in the crate and damaged one of the couplings and gaskets for one of the wires. My tech didn’t want to repair that mistake so that it wouldn’t be a problem in the future.
-ordered another front motor from the UK. (Another $16K+…glad it’s under warranty)
-installed new parts after it took ~3 weeks for another motor to arrive.
-tested car at various times of the day and drove it a net of ~160 miles
The technician said that he’s only seen this instance twice in person; my car and at school when he was getting I-Pace training. Apparently that car’s motors were going opposite of each other…yikes. He said he’s heard of 6 instances ever of the motors being out of sync. When I asked about his opinion about reliability he said that they rarely see I-Paces in the shop. Right now there’s one in for A/C and they’ve had another one in for sound system probs. When I asked about the HV battery and the 12V and the TCU, he said that if the HV cells fail, he’d replace the car. I assume he means out of warranty. I mentioned seeing the pack being taken out and replaced online and he said that’s a BIG job. I know a few of you have had cells replaced so hopefully you’ll all be good in the future. He gave me a HV battery health report with the battery at ~78% charge. 94% or 95% on each of the 36 cells. My TCU was reading 50% and he told me that it would be back once I drive it more and charge it more regularly.
I’m attaching my service notes. Good luck to you all.
I immediately felt better getting inside my own car that was Hand Washed. The service tech told me that I could request that in the future to make sure I don’t have any probs with my PPF in the future. Great to know in Frisco, TX. The superior steering, driving position, throttle response and overall driving experience was immediately felt compared to the Disco Sport I’ve had the last 2 months.

Yes this happened to me Twice- and its those pesky batteries in the Frunk/front trunk. Change BOTH is what I had to do and YES they will only last for so long and then DIE AGAIN my foreman said they last about a year and they are getting harder to find. I asked if I should just charge them at home like I do my motorcycle - he said he couldn't comment on that.Hi,
This morning I got into the car while running errands (so the 5th time I started the car today), I got a message indicating an issue with the stability system, (sorry, did not write the message down). It displayed the yellow info icon and the red alert icon and the yellow turtle icon (and said it was ok to drive). I was a few blocks from home, so I decided to drive with "reduced performance" as it said. Right away I felt a pronounced pulsing from the front wheels (I think the left front) so I went right back into a parking space (I drove maybe 30 feet). I tried reversing a bit into the empty spot behind me and forward again (so always in a parking lane) and the issue persisted. Tried turning off the stability system, and restarting the car a few times with no improvement. Finally called the roadside assistance for a tow. They said it would be an hour, so I walked home with perishable groceries and came back to the car 30 or so min later. I started the car and the error had gone away. When tor tow truck arrived, I decided to see if the car would drive and it seemed fine. I cancelled the tow and drove home. Did 2 test drives and no issues. I plan on driving to the dealer Monday but has anyone seen this before?

Hello, sir,
It happened me too, could you explain where is second battery? I have in I-pace only one in front.
Thank you for answer. Two 12V bateries is second surprise of my EV. Unbeliavable. 2Bateries caused life dangerous situation. My EV is from 2018 year. I am really disapointed with I-pace, it was my first and last experience with Jaguar, I understand that the battery can be discharged, but to have the car start jumping at a junction when you need to leave quickly is an egregious failure of a Jaguar developer who should at least get his ass kicked.![]()
What to expect and do with 12V battery failures - pre-MY21
In vehicles made before the 2021 model year, there are two 12V batteries. These are located in the frunk under the center removable panel and easily located by the red caps on their positive posts. The larger battery is referred to as the starter battery. This one is oriented differently from...www.i-paceforum.com
@rcomeau, did this problem ever recur? Did replacement of the ECU (and updates) do the trick?Got the car back today. They replaced and ECU in the anti-lock system and updated a ton of software modules. Hopefully we'll not see this re-occur.

I took the car to jaguar service where they updated all the units, I paid 300USD, I have only driven 500km since the update, they measured the auxiliary battery and told me it was in perfect condition, it was replaced with a new one 7 months ago. I'm afraid to drive the jaguar too far. I'd expect such poor functionality in a German pseudo clunker/car, not a jaguar. If the problem recurs, I'll sell it and buy a Tesla. I don't understand how a car company can even afford to sell a car with such a hidden flaw@rcomeau, did this problem ever recur? Did replacement of the ECU (and updates) do the trick?
I've got a similar problem, but haven't found any "smoking gun" on the forum. I posted the problem here.
Let us know how you made out after the updates. I'm seeing more reports of this problem lately. It happened to me twice, but hasn't happened in a while. I did install battery monitors, and if anything, they're proving that the batteries are still good. If it happens again though, it'll be good to have the battery info.I took the car to jaguar service where they updated all the units...
And @i-panthera, this is really good to know. This will get me to the dealer promptly if it happens again. They informed me that the default log clears itself after 3-5 start cycles or six hours of no activity

Of course, if I get the same error again, I will write here in the discussion and start thinking about selling. The I-pace is a beautiful car, but I'm really nervous when I drive it somewhere far from home, I'm used to Japanese quality, for example my Outlander PHEV (2016) was now serviced with front brake replacement after 160 000 km, otherwise routine service like oil change, fluid top up.
