Southern California Orders

Just an FYI that I was told by a reliable source that the next ship is due in to port on November 20th. Still don’t know if my car is on this ship, or not (but, I am trying to find out).

Just got mine

The new batch did get in on 11/23. I just picked up mine on Monday night.
The car drives very nicely. I've noticed a little lag on the touchscreen but I'm hopeful a future update will solve the tech issue.

The tech does get a little getting used to but the drive is excellent.

Well, I think most of us who have researched this car for months on the internet (and especially those few who now own one) will have the experience of "knowing more than anybody at the dealership" ... for a while.

But, in my case, I had told a salesman that I was interested, but I wanted to actually see one before I put down money. I actually wanted to see one in Phoenix in August (like the original expectation was) because I worry about the glass roof here in 115+ afternoons. But, that didn't happen until October & by the time they had one I could drive, I was told that they weren't taking orders any more ... And, I would be put on a list to be allowed to make an order sometime in the future (like April 2019). And, that they said I would be notified if anybody who did order one decided that they weren't going to take it.

So, I had resigned myself to thinking "Eh, maybe June of next year at the soonest". Then, suddenly over Thanksgiving weekend Saturday, I got a voicemail from the salesman I had been communicating with that the local dealership got in a 1st Edition that was supposed to be their dealer test/demo car - and he said Jag has recently decided that there won't be ANY of those and so they were putting them up for sale immediately. And, while I wasn't the first one called, I was the first one to respond. I saw it Monday morning, and owned it by Monday night. i went from the bottom of the list to the top, somehow. So, I have to say I'm not unhappy with my dealer!

(So, don't hate me!)

Another shipment of I-Pace's bound for Port Huneme, CA is on a ship called "Toreador.' You can track at marinetraffic.com.

It left port on 11/27 and is expected to dock in CA on 12/23
I have been told mine is on that ship!

Thanks! I have been told very little, but based on a recent estimated delivery date, I'm going to go ahead and assume that my car's on Toreador too.

It looks like the ship is nearing Bristol in England coming from Portsmouth, which is only 117 miles overland. So I have no idea what they're doing now, but hopefully they'll head in our direction soon.

Well, the tracking is even less exciting than I would have imagined, and my expectations were quite limited!

The website shows the ship has been sitting off the coast of Ireland, with no new position reported for going on 5 days now. I guess it's been moving, but not reporting progress. Perhaps it will jump across the Atlantic one of these days, and pop up off the coast of Maryland.
Toreador arrives in Baltimore on 9 December (pushed from 8 December) then sails to Port in CA for arrival on 23 December (doubtful).
I have been told from Market Distribution, because of the Holidays, not to expect it at the dealer till around 10 January. My dealer is 450 miles from the port.
The ship position does not report in at regular intervals when in the middle of the Atlantic.
Thanks for the update, JB. I am hoping to take delivery in 2018. I'm only ~100 miles from the port, but your report does not sound encouraging on the timing. Still, if it arrives anywhere near December 23, there should theoretically be enough time for some paperwork and a 2-hour drive to the dealer before New Year's Day...
And Finally! Ordered May 30, 2018. Received November 28, 2018 at 8 pm. Newport Beach JLR delivered it with 30% charge.
So, are you saying that it took 2 weeks from after when the ship arrived, to when they could get it to you IN THE SAME STATE?

106 miles down the 405 freeway. Some people commute that far around here.
Mine (my 2nd one) is on a ship in Panama right now. Wondering what my chances are of getting it for this tax year.
The dealership REALLY wants it counted for THIS year! My one advantage.
Ah. Aligned incentives. You have a non-zero chance after all. But JLRNA may veto it.

Mine has not even reached Baltimore yet, and I'm still hoping for this year.

Keep hope alive!

As expected, the Toreador has now teleported across the Atlantic, and is ~25 miles off the coast at Virginia Beach, presumably heading up the Chesapeake Bay to reach Baltimore tonight. Shipping Trivia: It looks like the last European town the ship passed on it's way here was Baltimore, Ireland, which is much, much smaller than our Baltimore.

I still don't know whether my car is on board, so I'm still assuming that it is!:grin2:
My car's ship made it through the canal and is expected in LA on the morning of the 15th.

The Toreador has reached the Canal, and is lining up behind a few dozen other ships there. Looks like it will go through tonight. Maybe to dock in California before the end of next week?
The Faust took a full week to make it to LA from the Canal. It arrives tonight. It's what happens AFTER that, that is a mystery. FYI.

Yes. Keep your fingers crossed that these next shipments don’t have faulty sensors. Our car is still at the port with no updates from the dealer in the last 8 days (car arrived on 11/27).
