Hi. Got my car 2 guys ago and loving it. The bundled SIM card was working and picking up 3G on day 1, and now it intermittently connects, might show bars, never goes actually online, and is often in "reading SIM card' status. WiFi and Bluetooth work fine. I also cannot login to Live or the navigation pages. Is the SIM card or slot shot, or is this a broader connectivity issue? Have turned car on and off, reset card in slot, turned mobile data on and off, etc. Thanks.

How is the AT&T coverage where you live? If the coverage is good you might try resetting the Jaguar Assist button on the upper console, driver's side.

Open the access door, press and hold the button while it flashes quickly then release the button when it flashes slowly. This will reset your live settings.

rip it out and don't look back
I'm not sure I agree with you. I like live traffic updates and the ability to send destinations from the route planner. I simultaneously ran Waze through AA and the onboard nav (Waze was displayed on the touchscreen and the nav was on the instrument panel) and the onboard nav was quicker and more accurate. Waze showed me off road a number of times and the nav called turns at the right place while Waze was consistently late.

At least with my current version of 19A live settings hasn't affected the infotainment. Smart settings/profiles.... now that's a different matter. It's turned off.

My phone is on ATT and has 5 bars in the car. It seems to be stuck on "Reading SIM". Can I get a new SIM at an ATT store to diagnose read vs card, or do I have a better chance flying to the moon?

I paid a lot for this car and have OCD, everything needs to work!
Try hunting around for different APN settings for AT&T. It may be trying to register to the network on the auto setting and having issues, thus disconnecting you. I posted about my switch from ATT to Mint Mobile on another thread.

Other is to talk to your dealer since the first few months of data is supposed to be included/free, so they should make sure it is working for you. My dealer salesman set up my SIM and made sure it was working and showed it to me prior to my arrival to pick up the car.

Had same issue with SIM.

Reading SIM but sometimes it worked for a few seconds. Dealer did a reset of SIM module ( did not learn exactly what) and since then it have worked.

From my experience with the SIM going in and out, I generally replace them with a brand new sim and 99% of the time works. Hopefully your local retailer is nice enough to get you a new SIM and get it registered for you. Let me know if you should need any assistance.

Another note - Are you on the trial plan or a paid plan? You can call AT&T to see if you're capped out. Also, in some vehicle I've been in, the mobile data limit is set. Might want to check that area and click it to off.

Did you try to reset the Jaguar assistance button?
THIS. Resetting the "Jaguar Assistance Button" usually solves all communications problems in the I-PACE. It worked for me the last time I tried it when I was having connectivity issues: the car is not connecting to InControl Remote, the car is not connecting to mobile data SIM, car connects to WiFi network but not really connecting to internet. After the reset, everything worked.

@bruintoo sorry to bring up an old thread but I just started having an issue with my SIM card not being recognized.
How does one reset the Jaguar Assistance Button?
Thanks.

  • press the Optimized Jaguar Assistance button, located near the overhead console.
  • The button will start to flash quickly after about ten seconds, but keep holding it down until the flash slows.

SIM card issues too, but most likely dealer's fault. I have spent HOURS now with AT&T, my Jaguar dealer and Jaguar USA. NO ONE will register my SIM card.

I have 2 months left on my free trial 4G Data that came with the car, but AT&T still says my SIM card and my I-Pace VIN is unknown and not in their system.

Multiple calls, emails and even a written letter to Jaguar and my dealer...and for some reason NO ONE will activate my SIM card. I guess it is just going to expire and I will not have 4G. Super annoying!

I don't know what is causing this issue, but the SIM card does not work any more since 5 days. This is my personal SIM, and it is still working fine if I put it in my iPhone, and the SIM card I have my iPhone does not work either in the car. Sometime I can see the "4G" sign in the upper right corner of the screen, but no data is coming in (no browser, no traffic info, no weather info, no news, ...), sometime it is a big "C" (or "D") with a slash on it, and sometime I can see that the car is try to connect to the network with the three little dots animation, but without success.
I have reset the Jaguar Assistance button a couple of time, without success.
I will no go to the dealer just for that, but it is just annoying. Traffic info feature is probably the one I miss the most.

I also tried to see if the Wifi was still functioning, but the car was not able to find any signal around. It used to see dozen of them a couple of days ago. It seems like a TCU issue, so I finally have a good reason to ask for a TCU upgrade next time I visit the dealer :). The API is still functioning well, though, so TCU is not completely dead.

How can we all be having these communication failures? It has to have been introduced by S20B1 based on when we all started seeing them. It may not be TCU, but it could be a "failure to communicate" between the infotainment software of S20B1 and the TCU software. Did they test S20B1 with TCU 14.2, 18.2 and 19.2 (the most popular versions) or just the latest version they have in-house? JLR needs to figure this out quick.

My intermittent SIM card issue predated S20B, so at least in my case the issue isn’t S20B. Over the last few days my reception has been solid. If it’s not going to work, it generally does that immediately as I pull out of the garage. It does give the impression of something not synching during boot up.

and my problems with SIM card are not synchronized with latest infotainment update. It was working fine for a couple of weeks after the update. The only 'event' that happened just before the failure, is that the car was sitting in a parking lot, and when I get backto the car, I had to move it quickly. So, I did not let the car boot properly, and I got all weird problems associated with a not proper boot sequence : still rear camera, ... On my way back home, I have lost the SIM signal, and the problem started there. It looks like something is broken since that short boot sequence. Maybe I should unplug the 12v battery to force a car reset ?
