I think JLR is looking out for the dude rolling on 26s, not a 255/50R20 tire which has the same outer dimensions of the 255/40R22 tires offered on the I-Pace. My understanding is that in US the manufacturer has to be able to prove the change contributed to the failure. That being said... I'm an engineer, not a lawyer. As an aside, I just joined the 255/50R20 club this week.
I asked specifically about that size... I'm just relaying what my advisor told me. I doubt the change will make any difference (cause an issue), but it does give JLR an out if they want to challenge a warranty repair.

I love my 255/50/20 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV. They stick to the road in wet and dry. We have them on the I-Pace and Model Y. They do suck on mud, though.

I'm in the market to buy tires...just bought some new 18 inch Jaguar rims (I know, I'm odd to want to downsize). Is there a consensus for best 18 inch tire to buy? Do they indeed need to have the XL rating, if load rating is 110?

BTW, I see Continental DWS has come up in the previous comments...I've used them since the early 2000's....best tire ever...good at everything.

I have one good Goodyear 20 inch to sell, if anyone needs one (was a replacement for a damaged tire, before I pulled off the set, so much newer than the others).

FYI - My dealer inspected the tires after I opened a claim with Goodyear. I'm pretty happy with the result, Goodyear is kicking in a significant amount of cash for the replacements. I'm not thrilled putting them back on, but they will get me past my Warranty period on the car so the next ones can be whatever I want.
