OK, where exactly is the sensor located for the foot gesture. I swing it back and forth and eventually it will detect my foot but I dont know exactly where it is.

Does anyone know where it is?

Oh, I will just have to eventually ignore it and use the power button on the actual boot lid or the remote. But with my "ocd" knowing I have the foot gesture option, I will keep trying it until my foot is in a cast! LOL

My mind keeps telling me...."It should work. Others get it to work. Jaguar would not put something on a flagship model that does not work".....

Some of the posters on this thread have suggested that the optimal action is a soccer kick at the 45 degree angle. While I agrre with the angle, I find that the most reliable motion is more in tune with a petulant kick of annoyance - a medium speed jab with the foot. As a soccer player and coach it does seem a very unnatural motion, but I find my approach works almost 100% of the time.

One reason it may not work is inability to recognize the key, because it only works with the key present. If your key is in a bag or the same pocket with a cell phone, that can interfere with key detection. If you cannot get it to work after following all the other advice in this thread, try holding your key fob in your hand away from other electronics and see if maybe that makes a difference.

Ok I'm like you guys - mine don't work anything like you see on TV where the lady walks up and the tailgate flies up, in fact mine has never worked!

Anyhow, I don't recall anyone saying if you have to have the FOB in your pocket. Would it work better in your right or left pocket? Does the FOB have to be behind the car to work to prevent UN-authorized openings by a gas station thief.

Yes. Which ever is closer to the sensor. Yes. If you have the fob in your pocket and stand by the driver's door, someone else can not use the kick gesture to open the back.

You guys got it all wrong......

You can't expect the tailgate to simply open with a mere kick or stroke of the foot under the bumper or near the rear corner.....no, no, no, it's not that simple. First, you need to gently talk to your car, tell it how nice it looks, how you appreciate all the nice curves and design. Buy her a few millivolts and then when the moment feels right you gently, in a most suave manner, gesture your foot towards the rear and to the side. I also find the trunk opens up more readily if you're carrying a box of chocolates, a spot of tea or perhaps some English biscuits. :smile2:
