As I was browsing through the various screens this morning I found one which appears to give an ‘instantaneous’ energy use, like I am used to see in most cars these days. My car seems to be stuck in 70’s kWh/100 mike range. I looked around to see what ‘normal’ is and it appears I am using about 2-3 times more kWh/100 miles than other I-Pace’s. Am I understanding that number correctly. Is mine unusually large?

I am not familiar with all the various energy use displays of the I Pace, but if this is an "instantaneous" then it should be constantly fluctuating based on your acceleration. If it is not moving it may be an average since you started driving and it would then change slowly. If its an average there should be a way to reset it. Instantaneous use should NOT be stuck. What happens when you life your foot off the accelerator pedal? Does it go negative?

And btw this translates to around 1.42 miles/KWHr which is very low. Typical ranges are more like 2-5 miles/KWHr based on acceleration, outside temperate etc.

Are there are information pages about efficiency since last charge, current trip?

Poor phrasing on my part, by stuck I meant it never really went much lower than about 68, staying within the 70 range even when sitting at the stoplight.

That does not seem right, when stopped the idle car draw should be 1-3 KWHr. It may be that the display doesn't update when stopped and hold last value. But you should be able to make that change by quite a bit from gentle acceleration to putting your foot down. Typically accelerating will draw anywhere from a minimum of 10-20 KWHr to as much as the car can provide (Bolt its around 120 KWHr, Tesla can be 200 KWHr). That draw along with your speed is what gives you that reading.

What other energy use or efficiency displays are there? I can post something from Bolt to give you an idea of what to look for if it's helpful.

I find a display that shows miles/KWHr (the inverse of this one) is much more useful and more like "mpg" to comprehend.

It seems like this could be chalked up to display lagginess. There seems to be a relatively significant delayed reaction to changes. After a short drive it dropped down into the 50’s, even into the high 40’s momentarily. Here is a screenshot

Ok so there is a bit of useful information in those displays. The first picture only shows data from 0.9 miles so that may be skewed a bit. But for longer drives it is showing your average. The range impact at the top seems to be showing what is impacting your range (I am guessing), but I can't make out what the pictures are. They all show high impact, so its worth nothing. And I assume the history is what got you to the graph page? I would love to see that graph for a 20-30 mile drive where the data averages better.

I do not know what -2 and -1 means (miles? data points?). But this graph shows the kind of changes I was talking about. But this plot shows you are getting around 2 miles/KWHr downto 1.4, which is quite low. Assume a usable 86 KWHr of capacity then you would only have a range of 150-160 miles total from full to empty. Remember the car won't use the top and bottom 5-8% for longevity of the battery and to make sure the car doesn't brick itself.

So what would be great is if you could pre-condition with a departure time, turn down heat and driver gently after resetting the data and post the same things for a 10 mile drive maybe?

I appreciate the help. I am out of town for a few days, I can do as you suggest when I get back. Unfortunately my Level 2 charger did not arrive before I left, so I’m not sure what the state of charge the battery will have when I get back.

Did you leave it plugged in to 110? It should be full by the time you get back. Also if you can reset the data the starting level of charge is not critical.

Did you leave it plugged in to 110? It should be full by the time you get back. Also if you can reset the data the starting level of charge is not critical.
Yes, it’s plugged in, still says 59 hours to full charge.

I assume I-Pace overestimates charging time by up to 50% similar to other EVs. Would be interesting to check if you have it send you a message when charging is complete.

Is there a setting for L1 current limit? Sounds like it may be set to low amperage. 59 hours from what charge level to full?
I’m not aware of any ability to change anything for this cord. It’s been plugged in for about 4 hours now and has went from 21% to 24%. Charging time left has went from 59 hours 39 minutes to 59 hours 1 minute...I can watch it remotely

Sorry, I'm a bit confused...is your I-Pace plugged into a Level 2 (240v) charger at home (utilizing the 7.2Kw charging rate) or is it plugged into a std 110v outlet (hope not, lol!)? :surprise:

Although I don't have my I-Pace yet so I haven't tried my home plug-in wall charger (ChargePoint 32A, 240v home plug-in wall charger https://www.chargepoint.com/drivers/home/ ), I assume it should provide approx 20+ mi. per hour of charging on the I-Pace, so about 6 hours of charging for approx 120mi. It should take approx 12-13 hours to charge from 0-100%. So your 59 hours for estimate charging time is just crazy!

Funny thing is, in just a few minutes it went from predicting 59 hrs 1 min to 59 hrs 26 minutes...2 steps forward, 1 step back!

Yeah, forget that 110v...it's pointless; only for emergency. If I were you, I would go find a 50Kw Fast Charger somewhere close by to your home...charge up to 100% and drive home. Maybe you'll have 80-90% charge for the next day? You need the Level 2 home charger for the I-Pace (or any EV from what I've read). :wink2:

Yeah, forget that 110v...it's pointless; only for emergency. If I were you, I would go find a 50Kw Fast Charger somewhere close by to your home...charge up to 100% and drive home. Maybe you'll have 80-90% charge for the next day? You need the Level 2 home charger for the I-Pace (or any EV from what I've read). Car is home, I am traveling without it. Unfortunately, currently the closest DC charger to me is 110 miles away, which is only about 30 miles less than what appears to be my max traveling distance! Help is on the way as a new one is installed about 2 miles from my house and should be live by the time I get home

The numbers do not add up. The battery is at 25% and the app says it is adding 2% per hour. So 37.5 hres should be required to bring it to 100%. There is no taper effect as you get close to 100% with a 110V charger.

It’s apparent their estimating algorithm needs work. It is now at 26%charge and will require 59 hours, 44 minutes for full charge. I’ll continue to follow while I’m out of town and see how performs.
