We're getting a California Lemon Law buyback from Jaguar. The whole thing has interesting. I reached out. They got back to me. I dawdled. I sent in the requested information. They came back with a horrible offer. I said **** no. The woman asked if I had bought it new. I was like duh. I gave you the sales receipt. She said to scan the back of the sales contract and send that in too. I did so. It was all the legalese of the sale. A few days later, I get a California lemon law buyback offer minus mileage at the first service for the issue. Quite pleased with the number.

But y'all can't get rid of me. I'll still lurk and BS for a while. This is my favorite car forum of all time. I'm not getting another Jag, though. We'll make do with three cars for a bit and then maybe get a cheap EV to tide us over. 4 adult drivers in one household. Oof!

I would be interested in what you finaly decide, snowflake. I honestly don’t see anything out there that gives me the thrill of the iPACE, and the frugal part of me doesnt want to she’ll put for a new car. I really still love the iPACE; just hate the issues it has had (for me both a battery and windshield).

second question, did you say anything to Morley to make sure you got the California lemon law valuation?

Does anyone who has been contacted by Morley know how long it takes. JLR verified my info a month ago, but Morley hasn’t reached out yet. I’m more than happy for them to take their sweet time, and indeed would prefer it if this dragged out through August, but I also don’t want to fall through the cracks.
Been sick. Haven't moved on anything. Did like what I read about the tiny, AWD Volvo EV. Good sale price. Poor lease price, though. Also, we have the ipace still, we have four cars still, and even though the kids are coming home this summer, the kids will be alone as wife and I will travel, so... don't need a car now. What will be up with all this tariff and EV law nonsense? No idea. Come August, we'll probably need a four car. However, my parents may buy one as a grad gift for my daughter, and getting them to learn stick has been a disaster for one of our four cars. Their brains are incapable of doing stick, it seems.

I just said that the offer is unacceptable. Then the Morley rep said she could try the California buyback stuff but she needed the back of the sales contract.

Should take about 5 weeks after you have sent copies of the documents they need. Buy another newer IPace as you like them so much. Have them change out the 12Volt battery if it’s more than a year old and preferably get a CPO car. Ours is good through 2029 With the balance of the factory warranty and then the CPO kicks in.
Morley rep said 3-4 weeks to me. 13 days ago.

I haven’t gotten to the “send documents they need” phase. Basically, mid-April I got a call from JLR asking to confirm my info and telling me to expect to be contacted about the buyback offer. That has not happened yet.

WRT newer iPACEs, when did the entertainment hardware get upgraded? Really, it‘s the only thing that bothers me about my existing car.

I would definitely get a CPO car or extended warranty. I like to keep my cars about 10 years, and I think I’d be sweating a major breakdown after the warranty expires.
2022 for the new infotainment, IIRC. I don't mind the old infotainment at all. One, maybe two, people have said that the 2022 and later also have better suspension and quieter motors. I've no idea if this is true. Anybody?

We planned on keeping the car. Then all this happened. Xcelerate was good to deal with. I would use them again. A newer I-Pace is an option, but I love the Photon Red, and I don't think the car looks nearly as striking in other colors. The Volvo EX30 comes in bright yellow. I haven't looked at one in person or driven one. Seems legit. Though it is a bit wide.

Thanks @Snowflake. We find ourselves in a remarkably similar situation. We have three cars (and a fourth is with our son in college). My daughter is headed off to college in New York City in the fall, so if this drags on through the summer, I‘ll probably just drive her car (Tesla model 3) that we got from my parents when they got a newer car. I don’t love it, but the car is fit for purpose, so I will probably use it until my youngest daughter is old enough to drive in a couple years.

The infotainment is a mild annoyance. I just wish it started up faster. Also, every once in a while it just flat out fails to turn on and I have to pull the car over, turn the “ignition” off an on again (or deal with not having music or AC). My bigger concern is around reliability or lack thereof, so glad to hear that you had a good experience with Xcelerate.

I had a godawful experience with the Volvo dealership the last time I was looking for cars. The salesman was literally clipping his fingernails instead of helping us. Then again, we were asking about an electric car before they were available, but come on, he could have at least shown me the ICE XC40.

Fun to daydream about new cars, but I’ll probably punt until we again have more drivers than cars.

After spending more time with Pivi Pro, I'll say it is pretty much a wash w/r/t Touch Duo Pro. Pivi is faster, and I do really like the ability to cast turn-by-turn directions to the driver display while having the trip overview on the main display, but you lose functionality with the lower screen (it's climate and seats only), and you lose some CarPlay real estate on the upper screen for buttons that are rarely used. I would not let the infotainment be a major factor in this decision.

The car drives very similarly to the original, and I can't say that any differences are not related to going from 20" to 22" wheels. I kind of wish I had told them to switch out the wheels because the 20" with beefier Contis definitely had a smoother ride.

My thinking has not changed: If my Photon Red FE had the wiring harness repair, I would have taken the new battery pack that was offered to me (I know that's not an option now). Even with a good deal on the replacement I Pace ($25K out the door) and a fresh five-year factory warranty and a dealer service dept. that I have a good relationship with, it was a close call, and I still feel that way.

All that said, I really enjoy this car and I'm glad that I found a way to keep driving an I Pace. There isn't much out there that I've driven that I like better; certainly nothing in the price range.

Quieter motors? That was another claim.

Looks like I'll still have my stock 20"s when this is all said and done. For sale, cheap!

The wife tells me today that she wants another I-Pace. I've been sick for over a week, so we haven't gone shopping, and this week is super busy. Next week, I will hopefully be up to looking at cars again.

Lucid offers solid leases if you have a competing ICE vehicle. Competing EV? No dice. No Lucid. **** those guys. What the **** are they thinking? Ah well. Maybe the Saudis are like, "Thank you very much for buying gas."

I had to bid adieu to my awesome, irreproachable, faultless and lovely triple world-crown 2019 I-Pace FE. Always has been a pleasure to drive, always brought a smile when looked at. I feel bad for all the ones that ran into issues and lucky that mine behaved so well. Rebuy process was painless and very (VERY) fair(I am in California, thanks for anyone who paved the way in this state ). Moving on to Lucid most likely, and maybe back in a few years, if Jaguar comes back to their senses and graces us with a ‘I-Pace 2’.

Test drove the Chevy equinox fwd. Underpowered. AWD is probably acceptable. A bit floaty but comfy suspension. Great efficiency. Shitty dealer salesperson who insulted my wife and lied about the car.

Test drove the Honda Prologue 2wd. Stiffer ride than expected. Slow acceleration. Need AWD. Kind of meh. Saleseperson who didn't know shit about the car. Sorry, no 1 pedal mode? Motherfucker? You don't want me to go through settings? At least the Chevy guy knew how the car worked.

Both gave overpriced quotes, though the equinox quote was closer to a real quote than the honda quote.

I fucking hate dealerships.

Tried to look at a Taycan, but the 911 douches were having a car meet and had taken all the parking spots. So we won't be buying a Taycan nor leasing a Macan. And they're majorly fugly, so no big loss.

Right now, the EQB is the best by a country mile. Best sales experience. Best car to drive.

2022 I-Paces are asking 38-40k from dealers. That's way too much for this 4 year old car, considering depreciation for actual owners and what they sell for new. At 30k, I might take a 1 owner 2022 I-Pace with low enough miles and some warranty left.

I'm sorry for your loss. You gonna replace it with an EQB?
At least we got a big check. Quite probably getting an EQB in August. We'll see how the market is by then. Right now, I'm hoping my daughter can learn stick so she doesn't drive my i4 all summer.

Looks like you kept the car really well. Get another newer version
If it's not Photon Red...

Prices really have been rising on used I-Paces. The pickings are slim, and the wife wants a smaller car that's easier to maneuver.

We're in a weird position where we need four cars for a year. Then we might need only two cars after that, as the kids go off to grad school and college. The grad school kid might take a car with her.

And to think I sold the Model Y less than a year ago, not knowing about this FXGING buyback.

Oops. Just realized I didn't include the wheel nut key when I returned the car with aftermarket wheels.

In negotiations now. 2019 with mandatory recall. First offer was 30k then ghosted. Got AG's office involved and now in the 40s. Literally made last payment on it in February. Only 14k miles. Mint condition. Only issue is they restricted my battery. Found a new one for 47k. AG said if I held out they could get most of my money back. I'd be OK with an even swap or close to it. I think Im there. Going to miss the color though.

My wife got the Volvo EX90 and loves it. Supple ride with air suspension. Quiet interior. Not as engaging to drive as the I-Pace, but it’s a different class. We have also seen more EX30 on the road.

Costco has a running deal for Volvo EVs. Check it out.
Lease to immediate buy-out is what we did to take advantage of the EV credit loophole. We paid off the car once Volvo Financial Services posted the lease balance. Dealership tell you to wait 3 months to buy-out, but you can do it sooner to save on interest.

I think that if this existed when I got my i4 M50, I'd have gotten this instead. It's just more playful. I like playful.

I like the R1S, as does @sciencegeek. Just too big for us. It'll be interesting to see where the market goes once the 7500 is gone for 3 years. A lot of good stuff made outside the US, I bet.

OK, so this is genuinely funny. I do believe the I-Pace 20" wheels have a good chance of fitting right onto the Volvo. Similar offset. Same bore, bolt, and lug pattern as far as I can tell. The nearly two inches of tire diameter will be an issue, though the tires on my 20s are worn and need replacing anyway. I can probably fit them as is on a couple of corners while jacked up and then buy new tires in the correct size when there's a sale.

Teehee!
