Well, it has 1,067 miles, no problems so far, but when I went to start it this afternoon:
"OK to Drive with Caution, Traction Battery Fault Detected" appeared in the left side of the dashboard display.
Tried it twice. Repeatable. When through the left side steering wheel roller menu to Alarms (under info?) and it said:
Alarms:
Not Available (not None).
Checked the cellphone app for Vehicle Health, AOK.
So I drove it home.
It accelerates, regens just fine.
Got home and shut it off and tried again. Same ERROR.
So I plugged it in to charge it fully (it was at 75%) and will try again.
I called the Jaguar Assistance number on the Remote App, and they cannot diagnose (GM spoiled me, they can read the ECM codes immediately through OnStar).
Called Anaheim Jaguar (my dealer, Newport Beach is not really up to speed on i-Paces).

So... If the error persists after 100% charge, I make a service appointment. I should be able to drive it there.
I honestly believe it's a software issue. The boot sequence was weird when I first got the code.
The car coasts in neutral, operates in R and D, and regens hard. If the traction battery was faulty normally it won't regen or allow you to charge it. Normally it won't allow the traction battery to engage at all.

So now it's my turn. Hope I'm right. A battery replacement is a major undertaking requiring many special tools on most EVs due to the battery weight.
I was going to let my wife take the car to Las Vegas today, but she decided to take her car. I am very glad I didn't try and talk her into it.

Sorry to hear, but it sounds like a glitch of some sort. A real issue would have drivetrain performance consequences.

That's what I'm thinking. But I'm also thinking to park it outside the garage tonight. I've woke up in 2 burning buildings in my life. I don't want to find if I can survive #3. While the risk is very, very slight, a lithium ion battery fire is a force of nature. Especially when charged. It's something you wouldn't want to be wrong about.

Bingo! After a 100% charging, the error is gone. Sort of a scary bug. I'd like to know what code it threw.

But I won't be driving it until tomorrow. All I know is the error did not show up in P, R, or D in my driveway and garage.

When I bought my 2004 Touareg (early adopter) I also purchased an aftermarket diagnostic tool, the VAG-COM. It's hooked up to a computer and it reads and interprets the error codes.

If I hadn't had that thing I would have gone completely bonkers with all the faults that are constantly reported because of some idiotic hiccup in the 12V system or a software that freaks out under some unlikely scenario.

We don't have the same thing for our iPaces and that worries me a bit. I wish we could have a fault diagnostic tool that also allows clearing error codes so we don't have to go to the freaking dealer and waste a day.

Wouldn't OTA capability (or bluetooth connection to the app) eliminate the need to "hook up" anything to the car? Jaguar (or any auto mfg for that matter) should enable push notifications to their app for any errors or critical notices (configurable levels?), complete with videos on possible/probable causes for errors to help save owners time and anxiety. The days of undecipherable error codes and thick owner manuals went the way of the ICE automobile! Think "check engine" light vs. what the today's EV screens can now convey! I think this is one area where Tesla's "tech company" mindset needs to rub off on established auto manufacturers... unless of course, it is the goal of these manufacturer/dealers to keep owners tethered to their service departments, not necessarily for economic reasons (new cars are under warranty), but to 'keep an eye' on such new technology as it first gets in the hands of customers.

There is an ALARM menu item using the left side steering wheel roller switch. Instead of reading NONE, it read Not Available IIRC. Ugghh... My 2002 Corvette would give P0xxx codes from the dash. Once OnStar was available (2004?), you can verbally ask the car what codes and how important they are. They give you the exact P code, description, and whether it's critical.

It worked like brand new this AM, but I have a 60 mile drive this AM to a customer site. Decisions, decisions. Hard to decide when you don't know what the code and description is. MFRs now have tons of proprietary P-codes that apply only to their car, so generic readers might not give you the right data. Especially on Hybrid, EV, and multi-ECM systems. Modern cars are a computer network of various CPUs that chat back and forth, but are focused on a specific system. PCM - Powertrain. ? - Battery controller. ? - Infotainment. ? - TCM transmission computer, EDR - Airbag data recorder (aka Black Box), etc.

What I can tell you is this, driving accross Germany for two weeks in December, I've experienced lots of problems with the infotainment. Because the Jaguar dealerships around Frankfurt didn't want to or couldn't help me, I tried disconnecting and reconnecting pretty much everything I could find in the manual to maybe have some connection to the infotainment. Mainly because the radio kept playing, even when I left the car (closed and shut 'off'). Anyway, the grey connector on the right in this picture, (located all the way in the back of the car, on the right) helped me stop the radio from playing all night. But when I got into the car in the morning, your exact error would be on the dash. Of course because I pretty much disconnected half the car I wasn't surprised about it too much and it had been driving perfectly in Winter conditions, I don't know where it came from when you got this message of course, but might've just been a temporary power issue.

Just saw this behavior on our new I-Pace after charging. It hasn’t gone away after a couple of days so likely to schedule a service appointment. It works fine except for the disconcerting error message at startup.

My wife got this error last night after work....but the car is dead. Won't power forward or reverse. It rained all day here, so I'm curious if that had anything to do with the problem. Car was at a 70% SOC. I have a feeling that we might get there this morning and it will suddenly work again, but if not it is getting towed to the dealer. I guess it will have to go to the dealer regardless, because having the car randomly completely brick-out on us is not good.

To record that I've had same problem with "traction battery fault detected". Battery 100% charged. Went to start early morning and had this message. No drive or reverse. Locked car and called Jaguar assistance and was asked to detail fault message. When I returned to car the problem didn't exist and car seemed fine....is this a software glitch?

I have the same battery traction error on my i-pace. The warning light came on and Jaguar Assist could not help. Its been with the dealer for 5 weeks and they tell me it is just fixed. I have only had it a few weeks so I am gong to ask for a replacement .

Hi there:

A replacement of the entire car? May I ask why? Do you know what was replaced and/or how it was fixed?
