Recently changed my Volvo XC60 Diesel to an I-Pace. First impressions are just positiv except for the battery range which is quite confusing. I feel a little bit as in an anticlimax, 470 km on one charge exists only in a fairy tale, in reality, one can be happy to get 300 km as best. But how often am I going to drive as long, probably never, and if, there is always a charging station somewhere. Still, the marketing about the range is a bit tricky, for not to use stronger terms.

Yes it takes a little getting used to and the car also has to get used to your driving style and you will find the range indicator (also called the Wild Guess-O-Meter) starts to get a little closer to reality. Yes, I would be worried about starting a 300km trip in the dead of winter so I share your feelings on that, however I also found that through my daily driving I charge up less and less as I am not as concerned as I used to be when I purchased my first BEV. It all takes some getting used to. I remember the same ‘range anxiety’ back in the 80’s and 90’s when I couldn’t find diesel after 10:00 at night.

Welcome to the club!

Cooled glove box? Just another option to suck range (which box, center or passenger dash?) But 300 mi range for MY20, now that is interesting news! Any validity to that or just hearsay? I could understand if they were keeping quiet about it, given they have over 1000 MY19's still to move. If 300 mi range is true, what was done? Any software change that could impact the MY19's?

Rumor, clickbait, or some basis in reality? https://2019suvs.com/jaguar/2020-jaguar-i-pace/
Jaguar USA makes no mention of MY2020 and when I went and built one there was zero difference between the one I built last night and the one I built last September. They also still show the FE, so it is apparent they have not switched to MY20 online just yet. JLR did sign a battery contract with Samsung, so it is likely the MY20’s will not have the LG batteries. Could that be the thing that increases range?

For beverages.. I bought one for my wife's Landrover Velar, but it sits in the back seat. Of course I haven't "seen" this yet so...

Could be, I can't find the Z5 reference anywhere either. I did the same thing and nothing different online

Its a cooled glovebox. I saw 1 video that talked about it, but the dealer hasnt found anything yet. Mine is a Z5 Ipace. I dont know what a Z5 is, but it must be the new way to say First Edition since I heard they were getting rid of First Edition branding.

yea.. The most significant change is a new battery that will increase the range of the 2020 Jaguar I-Pace. According to unconfirmed rumors, the vehicle will go over 300 miles in one charge. Also, refilling the electric battery will be faster. Styling remains pretty much the same, while the interior could get some new features and latest advanced technology. Nothing is ordinary inside the cabin of the I-Pace... thats where I got it from

I really have a tough time believing JLR has achieved a 28% increase in range (300 vs. 234) and remained completely silent about it. Superior range is the ONLY measuring stick Tesla fanboys can legitimately pull out and brag about. Only reason (to keep under wraps) would be to not obsolete all their remaining 2019 I-Pace inventory... if true, the impetus for the coming MY19 fire sale just got WAY bigger. However, I think you or (more likely) one of the salespeople at your dealership is confusing with the WLTP 296 mi rating.

Jaguar 'First Editions' are only sold the first year of the model, so they cannot have a 2020 'First Edition'. But they could add an extra trim level above HSE that is similar to what they had for the FE.

It is odd that yours is a MY20 and scheduled for delivery within 30 days, yet there is no hint of MY20's on their website.

I am pretty sure I saw a claim in a review video that the standard two-cup holder in the 2019 model had both cooling and heating elements.

It may have been discussed here, also, I'm not sure. SFAIK, that is not a feature in my FE, and I've read most of the manual and definitely gone through the vast majority of menu options. I suppose I may not have seen some specialty items in submenu settings, but still...

The vague nature of the 2020 release info leaves the cooled glove box a possibility, and if someone has it as an option now as mentioned, that's convincing.

I have the cooled glove box. IIRC it was a $100 upgrade. Have it on my Touareg too. It's just an AC vent into the glovebox.

Where's the source for the range info? "Unconfirmed rumors"? I can believe minor range improvements by software but nothing major. It's mostly physics after all. Drag, weight, wheel size, driving style. Software can't do anything about those. The only improvements would come from eliminating ineffciencies; and I think there is some but not much room for improvement. I don't think software upgrades will improve range by more than 5% with the current hardware specs, which most likely have not changed for the 2020 model year.

If you read that link with English as your first language it has the smell and sound of something that has been put through Google Translate from the original in Outer Mongolian/Tibetan/Serbo-Croat. In other words any claims made about increased range or indeed any of the other so called MY20 upgrades should be treated with a shovel full of sale, not just a grain. Pay it no attention. Instead get on the Jaguar UK site and build yourself an iPace all of which will be MY20 now and you will get an accurate picture of why if anything is different. According to a large UK dealer I spoke with the ONLY difference between MY19 and 20, at least in European spec vehicles is that all MY20 vehicles come with heated windshield and steering wheel as standard, and the basic S now has folding mirrors as standard unlike MY19 where they were an option for the S. Oh and the price has gone up! So the message is don’t hold your breath for 300 mile range any time soon.
