I thought I would relate a recent incident where my MY21 (2020 reg) 12v battery failed. I went on a short journey and when I got back into the car I had a complete power failure. From reading previous posts on here about (mostly) older cars (with the 2 batteries) I realised it was a 12v battery issue. I called Jaguar assistance, who sent the AA. They jump started the car and then followed me into the JLR Dealership. The dealer replaced the 12v battery and TCU battery and I got the car back (washed and valeted) about a week later. The warranty on the car is set to expire in a month so this is good timing! However, I must commend the JLR Dealer in Aberdeen for their customer service. I know a lot of people on here are not happy with various JLR Dealers but I was very happy with the service I received from JLR Aberdeen.

Regarding the 12v issue. I have had a number of low battery warnings from WATTCAT in the past few months, and have also had a few calls from Jaguar Assist when they have had a notification about the car. I put this down to internet blackspots (I live in Aberdeenshire), but I now think this may have been a TCU battery issue. Hopefully the car will be ok from now, but I intend to purchase a power boost so I can jump start the car if this every happens again! The 12v system seems to be more critical for an EV than an ICE car. Although ICE cars (especially PHEVs) are also very complicated. So I suppose I am still expecting more 12v issues in the future. But I still love the car and it has not soured my opinion of it, or JLR.

From reading this Forum for two years, I think it is safe to say that for most I-Pace 12v's, they generally last between 2-3 yrs. One should simply not tempt fate - at 2yrs. 3 mo. just replace the 12v. Yes, it's out of your pocket...but it's a helluva lot simpler than getting stranded someplace.

I have posted how (unknown to me at the time) that the same event happened to me. The service manager indicated that some sort of power coupling between the main battery and the 12v batteries had failed. The parts were ordered and obtained but I have waiting three weeks for the repair as the dealership has been swamped with vehicles that were “killed” by the latest software update. I will report back once completed.

I had a similar incident recently, last week I went away for a couple of days and left my 2019 ipace plugged in the garage. When I got home my car was completely dead. Nothing worked. Fortunately the car wasn’t locked so I could get into it. Because there was no power, I was unable to pop the hood (so no way to jumpstart) and I couldn’t detach the power cable from the car. I had to have my car towed 3 1/2 hours to Portland and I am told it will be at least 5-6 days before anyone will even look at it. Not a happy camper right now! 😫
