Love driving this car and it is beautiful. I’m Dutch bu the way. Received the car Teusday and have had many issues since: non or incorrect milage data, the radio switch on and couldn’t be switched of anymore, the mid console switched off and doesn’t function until software is reloaded, charging at home is impossible as the car doesn’t connect (hence 2 hours of charging at fast charging stations!!) and at fast chargers the operator has to start the session remotely as the car keep on killing the sessions. The GPS module is not functioning resulting in a blocked Remote App as the car is listed as stolen.
While loving the car, the whole experience so far has been a downright nuisance. I’ve spend an average of 2 hoirs a day to keep this care going, which is more than I drove on average a day.
Anybody out there with similar experiences and an idea what Jaguar is doing to solve it?

Sorry to hear you are having so many problems. While many have had screen/radio issues, I have not heard anyone else having the other problems you are experiencing.

Good luck getting it sorted out and keep us informed!

@Lenny -

Can you provide more detail about your home charger setup? I'm assuming you are not using the basic cable that came with the i-Pace.
Charge Brand and Model
Amperage
Hardwired or portable charging unit

It seems if you are able to use a public J1772 charger and you are able to go through the basic steps to get the public chargers working, you might need to look at your home charging station.

The included cable is best used as a tow rope. It does not provide enough power to keep the battery up to the correct temp on cold mornings.
Oddly the Prototype cable DID come with a L2 pigtail for charging at full speed.

I have had my HSE now for less then a week. Issues began as soon as I left the dealership and after connecting my android phone with the app at the dealership. My issues are not as bad as LennyNijland but similar.
- main infotainment system hardly ever on and both center consoles are totally black and unresponsive.
- Logically all other features are also not adjustable like heating/cooling, parking assistant, and everything else that can be changed via the main screens
- Radio powers on while the car is locked and stays on
- Suddenly lost all DAB radio connectivity, this has since come back now
- unreliable mileage numbers
- strange discharge on range while the car is parked in my garage overnight.

Charging has not been a problem, although I do not yet have a home charger and have been using public chargers
My wife refuses to drive this thing due to uncertainty if the infotainment system is working

I took it to the dealer on Friday and they have confirmed "many" having similar issues without a fix available yet. They did state that there may be some new software out by end of this week. I have noticed that things have gotten more stable ever since i stopped connecting my android and totally deleted my phone from the bluetooth properties when the main console was actually working.

But all in all, this is an amazing ride which caters to the families out there as well, something that only Tesla can offer in the EV segment as of right now. However such buggy software simply should not be happening and really brings down the first impressions. But, there is always something when a brand new line of cars gets released with the first models. Unsure what Jaguars future plans are with the I-Pace but at least here in Norway it is a major hit regardless.

I want to start asking this of everybody who looses the infotainment screen ... Do you have a flash drive memory stick plugged in?

A USB stick stopped my i-Pace. I have a desktop (EVGA SR2 w/dual Xeon 5680s) that will not boot at all with an i-Phone plugged into it. And one of my Chevrolets did the same as the i-Pace.

Folk drool over the i-Phone, but Apple never was very good at software development. In the case of the Chevy, it was Apple's fault. Why? It was an i-Phone update that fixed it, not a GM update.

Carplay never left Beta. I'm surprised Tesla doesn't use it as their O/S.

Well I respectfully disagree. I am a professional software guy and MacOS/iOS is some of the most stable and well designed software systems out there. Since passing if Steve Jibs the quality has declined, and it can be buggy, but compared to Windows and Linux the performance and polish is second to none. I have iOS and MacOS systems that need no restart and have not crashed for very long periods of time.

Windows and by extension embedded Windows which runs the Jaguar is a connoted unstable mess. I would never use ur if it’s derivatives for control systems nor critical applications. I am sure Jaguar has a lot of bugs but the nature of the underlying system is probably oart of the issues you are all seeing.

My iPhones have always had bugs or deliberately nerfed features. My i-Phone 3 was incompatible with my MacBook Pro, but not my HP 17" notebook. The Mac Mini? would not remain stable as file server. I have Apple Apps that will hang. Not second tier, Apple.

Ubuntu Linux has been on our file server for more than 10 years. 100% uptime, 24/7/365, >20 users. It never even gets Windows Disease (machine performance decays over time). We even ran Excel, Cadkey, and some other apps through WINE. But our CMM software would not work, so that was abandoned.

If I get mine before this is resolved I plan to operate in "low tech" mode. No phone, no stick, nothing. Maybe use the FM radio.

If you use the 'slow boot sequence', you might not have to worry about USB stick. When my display froze, I plugged in the USB with car off, then immediately powered up without waiting for the NAV to go active. I have a hunch MEDIA was still booting when I put the car in Reverse.

"Slow Boot" is to unlock car even if it's unlocked, hold brake, press ON/OFF for a full second (One One Thousand, Two One Thousand, etc), then wait for Phone, then Media, then NAV to wake up in that order.
This is just a working theory of mine after having trouble with NAV coming up, and having a blank screen once.

Note, I've had two other cars that did not appreciate Hop In and Hit It in a rush. These are cars with multiple computers that talk to each other with up to 11 different on-board CPUs. They also drove fine, just certain features would not work, like the stereo or backup camera.

The "Slow Boot" (or "patient boot") method was what I had to do on my Fisker Karma. But, there wasn't a Fisker Automotive anymore to make software updates. So, I agree we should use that method - but it should be a stopgap measure - or documented by Jag.

One way of fixing this it keep the systems in standby. This is why people try to start their cars after a couple weeks and the 12v battery is dead. Parasitic losses. Best I can tell the i-Pace has very little parasitic losses.

I read on another forum, I believe it was a Norwegian one that they were able to boot the car properly and restore the screens by shutting everything off and removing the SIM card and then restarting the car without the SIM card loaded. No idea if this actually works, but for those having a problem it would be be worth trying.

I completely agree with @McRat, slow boot is absolutely the way to go. That coupled with NOT connecting via USB (bluetooth is fine) seems to prevent any issues from arising. I only started seeing issues when i tried to attach my Samsung S8 via USB, before then NO ISSUES, after wards disconnects etc. So I do NOT attach via USB.

I will wait until some more software testing and updates confirm no issues, for then I will just have to "suffer" without getting google maps moving map satellite imagery up on the screen, OH the "Horror of it all".

Seriously, the cars runs GREAT, and yes getting the satellite imagery is REALLY REALLY cool. But I can wait, and still drive the coolest car on the road.! Without any issues.

PS Can you tell I LOVE the car.

Speaking of the "Slow Boot", I timed it from cold and recorded the following aspects:

1) The Full Boot sequence from cold seems to take about 18 - 25 seconds depending on what is or not available (Satellites for GPS, connected phone available, etc)

2) The sequence as far as I can tell is: Instrument screen, lower screen, upper screen, load saved profile, connect phone, connect navigation upper screen, load navigation to instrument screen.

It seems like moving the shift from P at certain points (microseconds difference here) will bypass some of the boot sequence as it serves to ready the car and indicate the change in shift state.

Anyone find anything to support this or see anything different?

Black-out screen om my first drive

Maybe we can help the engineers who are working on these problems. When you get your car several settings are changed. My dealer told me that some cars do not have problems at all. My first screen blackout was immediately after the the first start of the car after changing the settings and connecting my phone at the dealer. The list of settings changed is long and I don’t remember them all probably. But is it worth a try to make to make a list of settings you change at the dealer and then devide into groups with the blackout problems and without? As mentioned above, the smartphone could be involved. Is there anyone without the blackout problems who has his phone connected to the car?

In healthcare it is quite common that patients help there doctors by collecting data. Let’s try to do the same with our i-pace patient.

Have the same problems with screens/radio etc
Does anyone know what the staus is on the software update.
This is a mess
I did not plug in a usb stick. Just connected via hot spot mu android phone and plugged in usb connector with my phone.
