Greeting! Sold my gen2 Volt and Love week 1 of my I-pace S model. 1st challenge is knowing quick charging options when near end of range away from home area. Navigating chargepoint station map and user notes for protocol; appears sketchy due to waiting for daily availability or even station repair.

cool, congrats!

chargepoint and evgo seem to be the most widespread ones at this point
electrify america is making a real push
also check plugshare

and the thread here about tesla destination chargers / adapter for plugging into that (7kW charging only, beware)

I have found PlugShare to have the best info in regards to charging stations

As I found out yesterday DO NOT trust the Jaguar NAV system. Nor the EVgo either. IIRC, Chargepoint is pretty good. Plugshare is the best.

The Jaguar 'Charging' NAV is dangerously unpredictable. When I'm 120 miles from home with 2 Combo chargers in my area, it only listed my Home charger and nothing else. This is not what is always does. Sometimes it works.

charging education

Thank you all for welcoming me with your comments & suggestions! Just ordered j1772 extension cable by Jlong which I found via helpful website
https://greentransportation.info/ev.../chap8-tech/electric-car-extension-cords.html

Next will be visiting Livermore, CA electrifyAmerica site which is on the way to/from Sierras from SF area. It is at a premium outlet mall which I have managed to avoid visiting for years even though I grew up in that town. Guess will be browsing for a hour as car charges. Will report experience back here...

This last post makes the most sense...

For the most part, I see no more than 100-125 miles per day. And those are not all the time either. I've had it since Nov. 8 and now have about 1335mi. But I'm a FF so, not every day anyhow. So take off for days at work and the daily goes up to about 52 mi or so.

Range IS NOT A PROBLEM.

However, I do have a question for the forum regarding the sequence of charging. Is there a particular sequence that needs to be used for effective engagement of the charging connector?

I have ChargePoint installed at home (220-240v). YOU KNOW when it has engaged the connector. You can feel it, hear it and see the bright green light. Plus it states CHARGING in the dash readout. Otherwise, it states initializing.

Lock then plug in?

Plug in then lock?

What is best?

Open charge door. Hit unlock fob button. White LED oval lights.
Plug in your SAE 1772 cable into the car. Now the White LED will go Green, then flashing green, indicating it's charging, then it goes out after awhile.
Pushing Unlock will unlock the cable from the car so it can be removed.

OK, Sounds Great. I'll try it when I get home.

Here's another:

The InControl app.

Great, but a bit of a pain also.

On the first page, you have a line says "Charging" or "Preparing to Charge"

Tap that and you go to a page that has on the bottom CHARGE PERIOD ...

I think that is causing problems because I cannot DELETE all the times. It's stuck on 21:30--04:00

Can I somehow delete all times and charge when I want--when I plug in?

Much Thanks!!!

I have had poor luck with so far. I'm getting a Juice Box Pro EVSE for Christmas, so I can program the time window into the Juice Box.

See, at home I have TOU window from 22:00 to 08:00, but that's not true for work. When I programmed the car to charge in my EV TOU window, it didn't want to charge at work.
It needs location based charging, and Departure based charging. That way the battery is warm when you leave (program departure to your actual departure time), and it won't affect remote location charging.

Somebody must be an expert at this by now, but it's not me.

Don't have my Jaguar yet but on my Toyota I just leave it in immediate charge mode for work.
At home I have a Schneider with up to 8 hour delay that works just fine at home if I can't make the weekend without charging.
Juice Box should work well for you.

I had the Juice Box Pro 1st.

if there is a problem, you'll get a medium loud beeping. The problem was my wife was asking me TOO often ---- why is the car beeping??

it wasn't the car, it was Juice Box. Called the company, they could not diagnose or fix over the phone. So I sent the unit back and grabbed the ChargePoint instead.

Works similar without the beeps.

Lights instead. Pulsating blue, you're charging, solid you're done. (Small sideline--attractive unit too., but that's only matters on Friday nights!)

Juice Box DID seem to charge with more power...

Did you happen to go into the nav settings and enable all the vendors around you. I found I had to do that then they all started showing up. Seems fairly accurate now, just lame you have to enable each vendor one at a time; very time consuming.

I notice that we spend the most amount of time talking about the type of driving that I (and most people) almost never actually do - going somewhere more than 100 miles from home.
I don't look at it like that since I can burn through 100 miles and not drive nearly that far. Example, I drove 54 miles and used over 70 miles of range. Finding the I-Pace isn't very efficient.

So, my new car appears to be charging. My charger is blinking, and when I open the door, it says Charging and the number is higher than it was 30 minutes ago.

But, my InControl app just shows "Preparing To Charge". And, just to test that, I tried to lock the car with the App (standing right next to it), and it eventually said it had a "Network issue", but the request was queued.

I live in an area where cell service is spotty - could that be it?
