I've just spent the last two hours reading just about every post on the I-Pace forum and it's interesting that there are very few finalized outcomes being reported. There is also much confusion based on some talking about different recalls. Mine is the H514 which includes the buyback. Lastly, it seems that the buyback someone will get is based on the laws in the state you live in. I'm in Washington, which I think has good consumer laws. That is my take on all of these postings.
That being said, here is my status. I called my "local" dealership today. I say local, but it's 300 miles from where I live. My local dealership shut their doors in November. Anyway, they said that all they do is take possession of the car once the buyback has been completed by JLR of USA. They don't deal in any of the negotiations. So, I called JLR customer service. All she could tell me is that JLR is not handling the buyback and to wait for a call from "Consumer Affairs". When I asked her to clarify which Consumer Affairs, she said the US department. I then realized she really didn't know what she was talking about. Based on a number of posts on this thread I believe she was referring to the JLR team that is being set up to process the buyback claims.
I guess I'll just sit back and wait for a call. I'm retired, so I've got all the time in the world to work any negotiations and I'm a dog with a bone. Besides, I love this car. I've had it just over 5 years and has only 16,250 miles. The only issue I've had is the charge port had to replaced, the two 12v/Aux batteries had to be replaced, and the passenger side axle seal had a leak. That's it. No out of pocket expenses. I also have not had the update done to reduce to 80% charge. Don't want to make a 600 mile round trip just for that. Will be interested to read some actual buyback results in the next few weeks.
