"We can talk about a number..." - interesting. Maybe they will deviate from KBB. I still don't understand what happens if one of us refuses to sell. They promised the Feds to take care of this issue, didn't they?
Agree. She said I could keep it but if that's an option why buy it back? I have a number in my head. If they hit it, I'd be thrilled.

My bet is they set the standard as KBB, then if you get more you feel like you "won".

KBB is less than a same year Bolt for F*cks sake, and those cost half as much new.

For what its worth, I bought it in New York and its registered in Illinois. Looks from what I read that I could far under both states lemon laws.

Wonder if that will goo stuff up?

Are you sure that it is true about the Bolt KBB value being more than the IPACE value? I looked up the KBB value for the IPACE and it is just a hair under $20k

Ooooof. I just looked. Its about a $3,000 spread here.

However mine in 2019 had a sticker of$80,000 and Bolt was maybe $40,000 from the premier.

To be $3,000 apart in value 6 years later?

I encourage you all to share your feelings with JLR corporate in addition to the Morley reps. We might get more traction (battery) there.

apine@jaguarlandrover.com was listed as the JLR contact for the H536.
I believe this is the doc @Vandy2020 may be referring to.

Eendracht maakt macht.

I would be careful here. There is a Facebook group for the buyback and so far the numbers that are being received are low. Since you can be anonymous here I’m concerned there is the chance someone from JLR could be posting false information.
Same. I absolutely suspect at least 3-4 profiles on the fB group. Regardless, there's a plethora of info out there from credible/legit sources as well. With this, everything's with a grain of salt.

Don't "refuse". I don't think it it let's them off the hook, but likely makes it harder if that's the verbiage you choose to employ.

Also, per NHTSAs ODI:

On refund the NHTSA says full purchase price minus reasonable depreciation. Does that purchase price include sales tax, title tax and registration? Lemon law allows you to include those. Since I bought out of state my original invoice don't have the title, registration costs factored nor my state tax

Using KBB as the independent source of vehicle value doesn't necessarily mean that you take the reading from 2019 and use that directly. If you use KBB value for other years (and potentially other cars) to estimate what the value of the IPACE should have been in the absence of an exploding battery, then that would also fit the description.

Submitted required documents on 03/05. Received the offer today(03/07). Accepted the offer.
Thanks for sharing. Obviously, by accepting, you felt satisfied with the offer. Pardon me asking, is their calculation based on the KBB fair value of the car BEFORE the identified battery recall (so this is sometime around the middle of last year) PLUS a reasonable calculation for the car's depreciation?

I got my proposal from Morley today and it is not as bad as I thought it would be. Not great either. Represents a 20% year on year reduction in value from MSRP. I am going to accept it since it coincides with my moving abroad, so it is convenient to sell now.
what is the total percent taken off MSRP

So about $35k for a 5yr old car. I appreciate many view that number as insufficient to replace their I-Pace, but that is around what our consumer society values a 5yr car. Your insurance company wouldn't be any better if you totalled the car unless you paid for replacement coverage.

Glad to see some resolution and the opportunity to move on.

Yes however the car was "Totaled" by JLR. No fault of ours. JLR is forcing the market value sooner than we planned and this increases our cost by at least $20,000

That is how I see it. So that is why we may need an action filed by our state Attorney Generals to get them to comply with the Fed?
