It may be a concept model, but the Jaguar I-Pace is already shaking up the EV Market after giving a few lucky people in the motoring press a chance to test drive it in a controlled environment.

One such lucky person is YouTuber Mr JWW and he has given us a close look at what the I-Pace has to offer even though his drive was confined to a London car park. Sitting beside him and answering any cabin related questions he may have is Sandy, the Advanced Design Chief for Jaguar interiors.

Building it from the ground up, his team tried to show enthusiasts their premium luxury vision for Jaguar electric vehicles. The concept’s interior is very close to what we’ll be seeing in the production model, so we should be seeing a blend of beautiful materials and cutting edge technology in that spacious cabin. This was made possible because the front doesn’t have a conventional engine and there’s no need for a traditional transmission tunnel, so the cabin was moved forward and the floor was flattened.

He also had a chance to talk to Matt, Chief Exterior Designer for Advanced Design Jaguar, who confirmed that inspiration for the exterior was taken from the C-X75 and we can see hints of it all around the exterior. They also cleared up the mystery of the bonnet scoop. Turns out, it helps the air flow over the glass and through the profile for aerodynamic purposes.

Aside from its impressive design, the twin electric motor powered I-Pace in concept form is producing 392 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque with a 0-60 mph acceleration time of around 4 seconds. If the production model can perform just as well, then the I-Pace may prove to be a game changer in the EV market.

You can watch the whole exclusive test drive below and let us know what you think.

We'll just have to wait and find out how close to production the concept model really is. If they keep most of the exterior and interior styling then I'd be one very happy camper. Especially the floating center console, that just leaves so much space for a purse and it'd be a shame to take that feature out after touting about it to journalists.

To be honest, the Bolt was an EV market game changer, as was Tesla when they were first introduced, and then after the P90 it was a game changer, and then the P100d was a game changer.... you see where I'm getting at right?

Its not really a game changer at all, this is just simply the first car maker to come out with a truly luxurious and well designed EV. But that`s to be expected since this is Jaguar after all.

Now if this was another brand like Mercedes, you can expect the same

Jaguar is bringing more options to the EV table with the i-Pace, but I think the Tesla Model X is considered more of a game changer than the I-Pace. At the very least, Jaguar will motivate other luxury automakers to come out with their own electric performance SUV.
