Jaguar I-Pace Almost Ready For Geneva

Jaguar has released an I-Pace teaser ahead of its Geneva Motor Show debut next March and the crossover looks production ready.

As the automaker’s first all-electric vehicle, nothing is left to chance and multiple test mules were used to perfect the I-Pace. In fact, Jaguar engineer Simon Patel said they successfully tested over 200 prototypes. These cars travelled over 1.5 million miles and logged around 11,000 hours of component rig testing.

Standing behind the I-Pace is an army of Jaguar engineers, over 500 of them. All to produce a vehicle with an expected single charge range of over 200 miles, alleviating what range anxiety potential customers may have. Speaking of range and batteries, Simon was asked by a potential customer about the pack’s longevity and they typically design them to last at least ten years. CarScoops quoted Ian Hoban, Jaguar Vehicle Line Director, saying: “Jaguar's first battery electric vehicle will also be fast to charge; our target is a zero to 80 per cent charge being achievable in a short break.”

Sales will start in Europe and the UK right after the I-Pace debuts in Geneva while those in the U.S. will have to wait until the second half of 2018 though interested buyers have already put in a deposit.

One such potential customer is Ann Voyer from Pasadena and she was lucky enough to be chosen as a passenger on a road test with an engineer. Jaguar took her on a 200-mile drive from Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles to Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo on a single charge.

With how they angled the camera, most of the cabin remains hidden, but soon the full interior will be revealed along with the car’s full specs.

Why didn't they peel off the camouflage finally? Can't wait to see I-Pace without it... So cool that design looks identical to the concept.
The I-Pace is highly anticipated indeed...The car looked amazing as a concept and the production model could look just as stunning. Knowing Jaguar, the interior materials will not be lacking.
If you want to see the production version unmasked, take a look at the e-trophy.
Hidden in plain sight ;-)
Of course shown in Frankfurt, but here's a great comparison-shot:

Here is a quick i-pace overview from 2016 LA Auto Show, check it out.

Too bad that we haven't seen these in any of the potential colors since that can change things a lot. You guys would be surprised by what that can do, although a car that looks amazing in white will look amazing in any color. White exposes all the flaws like shining a light at a rat hole!
The I-PAce's exterior looks a lot like the concept and if that's how little they touched the exterior, I can't wait to see what the interior will look like.
Agree with Mr. Speed, only the front and the back will be lightly different. I am anxious about the interior, hope it will be as the concept. It was so beautiful including the rear temperature control. Still three months to wait the Genova motor show!

At this point I will be happy with anything because as much as I like the Tesla Model S, this Jaguar is the next best thing for me. The British, specifically JLR always does design right. Adding to that a bigger incentive to buy would be special treatment from SVO ;)
Down the road as some companies look to sell the fleet versions it could make for some really cheap I-Pace's sort of like what you see with police version of civilian vehicles. But of course being Jaguar it might not be that simple, unless they get into making police interceptor versions.
Most speculations should be over. You can now build your I-Pace on the Jaguar site and true to their word it is very close to the concept. I can't see any difference. I hope the pricing will follow soon being that they posted the build capability. The pricing should be very soon. I called a couple of Jaguar dealers today and neither had a clue and didn't know about the I-Pace premiere. I get so tired of walking into dealerships and discussing things that they know nothing about and respond very rudely. I will say my best experience from a dealership was earler this week at a Tesla store. I was very close for the Model X until I found out about the shudder problem that is on going since I guess day one.
