That's interesting. I would've assumed they'd start with California, but I guess not.
234 is the official numberI'd love to see the Monroney sticker with the EPA data.
Along with the first sale, Jaguar finally released an official EPA range estimate for the I-Pace: 234 miles, a little shorter than the 240 the company previously estimated.
I saw something (now I can't remember where) that cars meant for the western region are shipped into Oxnard, CA. So, through the canal. The question for those in the West, is whether they will ship via the Panama Canal or overland rail.
I don't know what the existing shipping route is for California for JLR.
It appears the East Coast Port of Entry for Jaguar is Brunswick, GA and the West Coast on is the Port of Hueneme (Oxnard).I saw something (now I can't remember where) that cars meant for the western region are shipped into Oxnard, CA. I don't know which states constitute the western region for JLR, other than to say Colorado is in it.
The fact that the first delivery is in Florida leads me to believe the first shipment went to the East Coast (not sure where). Or it was a special order for this family. As mentioned above, they appear to serious Jag fans.
You almost assuredly will be receiving it prior to then.It appears the East Coast Port of Entry for Jaguar is Brunswick, GA and the West Coast on is the Port of Hueneme (Oxnard).
My car, with a build date of 5 July has been listed as in the port of entry since the end of August. It is supposed to be ready for retail delivery 27 Oct 18
I don't know about that. My car has a build date of June 12 and has also supposedly been "into port of entry" (presumably Oxnard) for a while with an anticipated delivery of Oct 26. I emailed my dealer for an update and he couldn't provide any specifics. Given that it's October 16th, I'm dubious the October 26 delivery is going to happen. You almost assuredly will be receiving it prior to then.
I was given a late Sept delivery, but is now listed as late November.I don't know about that. I hope you're correct. However, in this case, I would assume that they'd be able to say "hey, now that we're officially allowed to sell you the car, we're going to put in on a truck and it'll be there in 2 days". Or something like that. But I just got another email from my salesman today with no new information on delivery. I suppose it's possible that you're right and he's just painfully ill-informed (maybe this is even the most likely scenario), but there's so much hype around this car and I've been borderline harassing my sales guy (hence the daily emails keeping me "informed"). So I'd think he'd be on top of it.Well it depends, I had heard somewhere they were opening up official sales on Oct 15th and then we saw somebody actually take delivery. If they are officially open, you can bet your car was held somewhere pending authorization from Jaguar and Customs to ship out but is definitely now on a truck or rail headed to your dealer. I've posted about this before, that is the way it works. Nobody was going to get a car until Jaguar officially launched it in the US, which is a coordinated campaign between sales, marketing and the US Gov't(the car has to be certified, etc).
I ordered an F-Pace, somebody had ordered his four months before me and it was a first edition to boot, his car sat in the US for 7-8 weeks and he was so pissed he didn't get it. Long story short, I'm closer to a port than he was and I ended up getting mine a few days before he got his even though mine hit the US a good two months after his did. All because they were waiting for the official launch date so any car that arrived prior to then just sat.
Jaguar is terrible about keeping their dealers updated. Point of fact, on my F-Pace my dealer emailed me saying it was still on track for its estimated delivery date of July 1 2016(or thereabouts). Then literally 1 or 2 days later I get another email from him, saying, it just arrived--you can take delivery in 2 days after we prep it--this was about May 18th or something--so not even close to what the info the dealer had. I also wonder, when combined with the info that UK dealers are telling people they're already switching to model year 2020, if there isn't some sort of major redesign with the battery pack or motors they've had to do that they're not telling us about.I hope you're correct. A point in favor of the "ill-informed" theory, however, is that I sent him a link to the story about the first delivery in Florida, and I was the first person to tell him about it.
I guess at the end of the day, it's all pretty much irrelevant speculation and I get the car when I get the car. But it's something to do in the meantime...
If that information is true, that's encouraging. So maybe you take delivery early next week?Mine was supposed to be on the truck, leaving the port, no later than yesterday. I got an email at 7pm last night notifying me the cars did not get loaded out, so it is still at the port with no further information on a new load date...
