Jaguar is preparing their own electric crossover SUV and the automaker is planning to make the I-Pace’s European debut at the Geneva Motor Show a memorable one with a new paint called Photon Red.
Generally, concept vehicles will circulate around various motor shows for a year or so and to keep the public’s interest, some automakers will change the concept’s paint color on its second or third debut. We first saw the I-Pace at the LA Auto Show last year in November and it was sporting a silver paint job, but as Jaguar’s first-ever battery-powered electric vehicle the I-Pace deserves its own paint and that’s where Photon Red comes in.
"The I-PACE Concept is a radical departure for electric vehicles. It represents the next generation of battery electric vehicle design. It's a dramatic, future-facing design - the product of authentic Jaguar DNA matched with beautiful, premium details and British craftsmanship,"
said design boss Ian Callum.
"This isn't just a concept. It is a preview of a five-seat production car that will be on the road in 2018. This will be Jaguar's first-ever battery-powered electric vehicle and opens a new chapter in the history of our legendary brand."
Competing against the Model X, the I-Pace’s performance is nothing to sneeze at. The concept is equipped with two electric motors for an output of 400 HP and 516 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough to push it from 0-60 mph in just 4 seconds. You’d think the vehicle’s range would take a hit in light of these numbers, but the I-Pace is expected to have an impressive 500 km (310 mile) driving range.
The 87th Geneva International Motor Show is set to take place from March 9-19th and the Photon Red I-Pace will be there.
