On the infotainment screen, on the left side there are the icons for CarPlay, media, navigation, etc. What I'm wondering is what are other forum members getting when they press the navigation icon, the I-Pace Navigation or the CarPlay navigation maps. I am not able to figure out why, but about 80% of the time the navigation icon seems to lock into the CarPlay navigation map rather than the I-Pace navigation system, and then at other times the navigation icon opens I-Pace navigation, and then I can use the CarPlay icon to use google navigation if I want. I actually prefer this scenario as then I have a choice. When the navigation icon locks into CarPlay navigation, the only way I can use/see the I-Pace navigation is to disable CarPlay. I am just wondering how this works for other people, and how it is supposed to work. Is there some setting I am missing that allows me to change what the navigation icon is linked to? I would prefer to be able to link it to I-Pace navigation. I really don't understand why mine changes from time to time without me doing anything.

Could it perhaps have something to do with there being an active route in CarPlay? That is, if you are actively navigating in CarPlay via Maps it hijacks the nav button, otherwise it takes you to the built in nav. The CarPlay navigation API seems like this could be the case, since when you start navigating you create a
CPNavigationSession which tells CarPlay (and presumably the car) that there is an active navigation session.

Thanks for the input, I guess that could be the case but most times I'm driving without any active navigation that I know of. Most of the time the navigation icon is using the CarPlay navigation but I "Don't Think" there is any active CarPlay navigation happening, but I will check that now to make sure. I was just curious how that navigation icon reacted to other I-Pace cars to see if mine is acting the same or if it is different.

Interesting thing I noticed the other day. When the battery state of charge is low and the car is saying I need to charge (<15% for me). It defaults to the Pivi pro nav on the icon. When I charged it back up it defaulted to Carplay again.

Hi, I have found that it is when you add a route to carplay the first time that the navigation icon changes to the carplay navigation. I found this out as Jaguar was doing some checks on my car as to why one day it wouldn't go into drive after pressing the start button, which is another story, but in doing so they reset everything. When I got the car back, the navigation icon was back to using the Jaguar navigation. I took note that just using carplay to view maps didn't do anything, the navigation icon just stays with Jaguar navigation. It is only when you put in an active route does the icon then change over to carpplay and stays that way as as the default. What I have discovered though is if you use the Hey Jaguar command to get directions, it uses the Jaguar navigation and then the icon changes over to Jaguar again. Now that I know this and how it works, it is not really so much of a big deal for me anymore. Thanks everyone for your input.

Interesting. I rarely use the Jaguar navigation. It’s nice that it defaults to the last used navigation, that would make sense.
