Crushing the car seems to be a very bad idea to me. Breaking it down into used parts and resell them at reasonable price would be a better idea.
It sure if he meant that literally. Not sure if JLR will just auction off the cars as scrapped and some recycler would strip them down for used parts (minus the batteries which need to be disposed of). The used parts market will be flooded. Not sure how many independent garages will know how to fix anything though?

I think the JLR guy that enumerated me the 3 options of H484 told me that all ipace will go to the US to be crushed....
With my 2019, repurchased under H484, I was told stripping down for parts wasn't economical for JLR and would undercut their use of new parts at dealerships.

I was looking on auto trader. Wow I see a lot of dealers with 2019s forsale. I even ran the vin numbers on a couple and they are all affected by H514. I would hate to buy one and no know about this.

For many of us, part of the motivation in buying an EV was to reduce the amount of pollution caused by driving. EVs are better when they have the same life span as the competing ICE car. I realize that we are still in early days and a lot of infrastructure for proper recycling still needs to be deployed, but having an otherwise perfectly working car crushed (not even for spares) at ~70k miles is a crime.

Is there any info out there as to when the buy back process will begin or when owners will be notified of the details?
I was hoping to find out the same thing. The notice on the website site says Jaguar will reach out to repurchase the vehicles with the aim to complete this as quickly as possible.

Copper Ruby Metallic. Beautiful. I recommend the rear axle steering option.
Go to finder.porsche.com to find dealer inventory across the nation.
I've configured both the Turbo (back when there were 2 models) and there 4S with Ruby Red with the club leather. Now looking at Aventurine Green as well. OI assumed I'd have to order and wait. I was planning on the German delivery (I go to Germany at least a few times/year for work and would love to take it onto the Autobahn before having to live with 100km/hr limits...

The Macan EV and the Hyundai N are so fugly, it hurts. I might go for some cheap EV lease if there's a forced buyback. I certainly won't go for another I-Pace or Jaguar. The best outcome would be a new battery and a check reimbursing for lost value.

I think we would be lucky to get a replacement battery. I think Jaguar just wants to wash its hands of it. We went out today looking for replacement options. Unfortunately none of the EVs look as unique and good as the IPace unless you get into the super expensive. We get a lot of compliments on our IPace. It’s good looking and rare by comparison. I thought I would like the Audi but the exterior is just ok. The Korean EVs turn my stomach. The EQ series Mercedes are ok looking but pricey and not that attractive. The Mach E and the VW ID4 were surprisingly decent. The 2024 ID4 (which is on hold) feels pretty nice inside and roomy. But it’s no Ipace as far as style. Volvo recharge series is just ok. Very vanilla not much personality.
So far ideally, if we can’t keep our car, another Ipace under warranty and a good deal would be our first choice. Then after that it would probably be a lease deal on an ID4 or MachE if the price was right.
What is everyone else considering as a replacement?

I have the same thoughts about the replacement. The Mach-E has a stupid shelf in the back that cannot hold a lot of weight (if you put something heavy on it, it rips off the stays. The Porsche is freaking expensive after adding a few options. The Korean EVs don't appeal to me at all (looks wise). I might just do a Polestar 2 (cheap lease) for a few years and see what shakes out (the 3 and 4 still have teething pains). The Audi SQ6 Sportback looks promising, but it will not be out until the spring.

At least I have an ICE car in the garage if Jag really pushes for the I-Pace to be returned.

FWIW, someone chimed in on a FB post stating that they got KBB value (26k) + 10k as apart of the H484 recall.

I hope for one that it is more like KBB + 15k considering as of this point they're forcing the buyback on everyone with 2019 i-paces.

Thoughts? or can anyone else chime in on their experience with a buyback on H484 to see if it lines up with this?

I thought it was blue book + $10,000 only if you traded in for another JLR vehicle.

For H484, the straight buyback option was Bluebook plus $10k. The tradein for a replacement Jaguar product from inventory was considerably more generous for those in the US - see previous threads.

There was some negotiating possible. I followed the tradein route so cannot speak to the straight cash offer, but felt it was a fairly "hard" offer. My offer was $35k plus $10k plus an additional contribution "to make it worth my while". See the previous thread for details.

People are talking about as if 2019s being bought back is a sure thing. Only or a handful of the 2019s. The rest of us are in the same boat of getting a software update and waiting.

I'm 99.9% sure it is a sure thing, unless the NHSTA F'd something up majorly on their documents.

The verbiage on their site when I lookup my recalls on my car:

Devil is in the details. "JLR will reacquire vehicles..."
1. on what terms
2. which vehicles
Well the scope is going to be anyone affected by the H514 recall. I don't know if they need to spell it out in the remedy.

The terms are likely TBD at this point, but should line up similarly to the H484 i'd imagine. I don't think any terms there have been spelled out either.

I'd just hope that the total compensation is better because this is a "forced" buyback. H484 atleast had a repair option to take.

Hi all,

I took the easy way out regarding H514 update. I‘m a bit sad, because I’ve traded in my 2019 FE for a beautiful 2024 Macan EV Turbo. My I-Pace was relatively trouble free through my almost 6 years of ownership, with the exception of the two 12v crashing and burning several years ago. I received a respectable trade-in value for my I-Pace, which compared favorably to JLR’s buy-back offer for troubled 2019 I-Paces noted in this forum. I procrastinated on installing H514, because I didn’t want my charging capacity throttled, while at the same time looking for a replacement BEV. I’ll miss being part of this forum, especially the knowledge shared by sciencegeek, ayepace, denote, and countless others. Best of luck to everyone on achieving a satisfactory H514 outcome. BTW: I just picked up the Macan yesterday, so I haven’t had seat time to review it relative to my I-Pace.
Did the same thing. Macan EV last week. It is a shame, really liked the iPace. But life is too short to deal with this nonsense.
