My First Edition that I'm still arguing with them about buying back is in this recall. And its sitting at home in our garage at 80% while we're away on holiday. SMH

I don’t have any specific information but a service department advisor at my dealership yesterday told me they have had two customers come in and pick up a new IPace as a result of the buyback program. The dealer representative mentioned that the customers he has talked to that have participated in the buyback have said they were surprised and very happy st their offers, he didn’t know any specifics.
I also spoke directly today with a Jaguar representative today that told me the buyback is in progress and is supposed to be completed by mid January.

I have purchased 2 LG tvs in the last 5 years, both developed vertical or horizontal lines in them. Last month I bought a Sony. I’ll never buy anything from LG. Not because of their bad tv performance, but because of this battery fiasco. Furthermore, I refuse to buy any EV that has a battery that has anything to do with them. I know they don’t care, but I do.

FYI, I just called Jaguar Corporate, on an unrelated matter, by the way, and was told about the recall and repurchase program. I was then transferred to the recall team and submitted a claim. The recall team is supposed to get in touch with me by email or phone within the next two weeks. Otherwise, the representative was not able to tell me anything else about how the program works or what it entails. Stay tuned.

I find it sad that company policy is dependant on countries, I am in South Africa and my VIN falls Straight in the range, I have documented the battery temperature on my car, the range issues, the local dealer will only replace battery modules, going for the second module replacement in February, the other cars at the dealership are on their 3rd-4th battery module replacements, no end in sight...

Nothing really news worthy. But someone posted on Facebook I-Pace owners group that they spoke to a JLR lawyer about the buyback and KBB is the guide they are using for the values to offer. I sure hope that is inaccurate information. If they offer me 25k for my car I’m going to be highly upset. The book value has tanked even more due to this recall. I want JLR to hurry up and get this ball rolling.

After being jerked around for years, this would make me so angry. You would think with the all electric rebranding they are going through, they would want this to go away quietly. I say if they really hit us with lowball offers; we get a sizeable group of us and try to get a national story published of how they are treating their current customers who took a leap of faith with them on their first electric car. The only thing these corporations understand is liability and risk. If they think they are going to get out of this unscathed for 25-30 k a car, they are nuts. Let's see how they feel about brand damaging stories going national.

I’m at the point now I just want to get this over with. The longer this goes on the more I’m ready to just bail on JLR and lease something else for a while. I just want my settlement so I can move on. Anyone else being heavily affected by the lack of range? I’m charging so much more due to the deficit and the cold weather.

wish i could say yes but mine is in the driveway and I'm unable to start it. When I press start, it "starts" but quickly runs through fault notices - gearbox fault, traction battery fault, ASPC not available and then shuts down with the "p" blinking. I tried calling the Option 9 but it wasn't there. I emailed Customer Relations noted in the November 6 letter and they responded they couldn't help me and a special unit would be in contact. Anyone suffer the same BS?

Somehow, Nov. 6 H514 letter for our FE was sent to our second home address so we did not open it until last month. We did not get any other recall notice such as H441, H59, or H471, so we were unaware of the fire risk and have been charging the car routinely up to 100%. The car has been trouble-free since the 12v batteries were replaced almost 2 years ago. Of course, it has not been driving much since we got our Lyriq at the end of 2023. It is now a perfect car for the local driving. My question is: Should I bring it to the dealer for H514 recall or wait for the next step? I am afraid the dealer may mess it up. I will only charge up to 80% from now on.

You have some catching up to do on this forum since your last post in Nov '23.

Many threads have discussed the "fire risk". Personally, it doesn't seem so much a "fire risk" as a liability risk for JLR.

Some personal timelines:

H441 announced July '23. Installed at 2nd attempt in Aug. 1st module failure Sept. Module replacement Jan '24. 2nd module failure Feb '24. Car bought back and replaced Sept '24. The forum contains many similar stories, but to my knowledge only one fire.

To save you hours of reading H541 seems to be an annoyance regarding range, but possibly gets you in the line for a buyback. If you have another daily drive, I'm not sure I'd be too worried about doing anything - maybe personally restrict charging to 75-80%.

Yes. It's really bad. My efficiency seems to have gotten a lot worse after the update (I have no evidence of this). I don't know know if it's in my head, or whether since the range is way worse than 80% should be (I had the H514 update done). I'm on the west coast, and it hasn't been as cold here as the rest of the country. Regardless, the car is basically not much more than a city car at this point.

That is very useful information. Very few would know those important facts about 120,240 and DC charging. Thanks.

I am actually happy to keep the car, if the Jaguar is willing to offer an extended warranty. Getting a new battery or a nice trade in for a new one won't address the two main short comes, range and charging speed. EV has advanced much since I-pace was first introduced. A buyback and then crash the car seems to be very wasteful. An extended warrant won't cost much comparing to other options. At last in my case, the I-pace is still a great car in many aspects, just not for distance travelling.

I'm in WA. We leased then purchased a 2019 First Edition that was one of the demo cars. We've had a few issues with it, but nothing major. We decided to not get the software updates due to the decreased milage and it's a MAJOR hassle to get our car worked on at our local dealer.
We are retired and have other vehicles, so we are in no hurry to get the buyback. We are both very stubborn and tenacious, so we will not take just any "deal".
Funny enough, I got the attached letter in the mail yesterday; so the "land sharks" are starting to take notice and trying to get their "share". This is going to get interesting!

I've called them several times, they usually say to expect to be contacted in a week or two. They were saying this for at least 6 weeks. Called again yesterday, now they say we "might be contacted before the end of January". Their story keeps changing. I can't wait to get rid of this lemon car. I've had more problems with it in one year of ownership than ive had with all the vehicles I've driven over the last 20 years combined.

Talking to the dealer now. My car has about 36,000 mi. They would give me $28,000 for it and another $6,000 incentive on a new ipace. They would also do the 2025 ipace at 10% below MSRP, which they have as listed at $81,000.
That gets it down considerably and I can't help but wonder if I should be grateful or is this even enough for the trouble we've had to deal with on a car that won't ever be made again.
I love my car and it drives just fine, but the **** 80% Max charge limits the ability to travel to nearby cities without charging along the way. I found this out the hard way on a cold weather trip last month where the car had 1.8 miles battery used per actual mile driven.
I guess I'm just looking for some comparison from some of you out there or some opinions on this offer. Thanks!

Thanks for the report. Who is "they"? The dealer or is that money coming from JLR? You have a 2019 I suppose, that they are offering you $28k for? Do you know what the blue book value is ?

#561 ·
I believe you can get a new I-pace cheaper. I have seen them listed under $60K nationwide. Is your car subject to the buyback for H514 (2019 models)? If so, I would wait on the outcome of that because you will get the sales tax and other costs back. Based on your mileage it should be substantially more than offered by the dealership.

#563 ·
It doesn't matter how you acquired the car. Only that JLR are planning on buying them back. Like you I don't know what will happen, but my expectation is that we will get a far better offer from JLR. They do not want a class action lawsuit (because of possible punitive damages) and they do not want 2950 different lawyers sending them questions which their own lawyers would need to answer. The costs go exponential quickly. I am cautiously optimistic that JLR will want to have us think we are getting a good deal from this issue.

The KBB valuation would be negatively impacted by the defective battery, so it seems like there would be a legal problem here somewhere. Chevy Bolt owners, supposedly, are getting $1400 on top of the new battery that was installed.
If I bought a pair of jeans online and it turned out they were torn when I received them, I would be miffed if the vendor would say, "I am only paying you half if you return the pants, since they were damaged by us".

Surely that would depend on if you have been wearing the jeans for 3yrs prior to recognising that they were torn?
