Understood. I wonder if there is any correlation between failing H441 and H484 was my thinking...I guess one day it might suddenly refuse to charge beyond the magic 72% before the battery is replaced. Or whatever JLR and I end up agreeing on...

Some progress for those of us in the US " Club 258" and CA "Club 84". It was just a short 8 weeks ago JLR sent a letter that said they would call me. It looks like now I will get a letter. I must say JLR is never boring with their info, since it can change at anytime. I called just 3 days ago to make sure my cell # was on record. It was on record, but Cathy insisted on making a case #. I think they just like to make case # s.

My 2019HSE is impacted by the H484 recall. I was told the buyback option would be based on local KBB trade information.
So it looks like a buy back is again on the table. I also read somewhere in this thread that someone was offered a new I Pace replacement. I don’t know about anyone else, but there’s no way I am going into my own pocket to resolve an issue that existed since the car was manufactured. If replacement batteries are truly now hitting the market, I’ll wait for LG’s $30k “investment” in my five year old car.

So in the UK, some people have been offered a few model years later vehicle from the Jaguar Management Fleet (think of it like Jaguar dealer demo). Some have chosen to work with Jaguar in paying for a brand new vehicle at a discount. In the US, I think that may be the only option as there is no equivalent of the Jaguar Management Fleet.
However, with the depreciation on all new vehicles and Jaguar and EV in particular being spectacularly brutal, even a steep discount I don't think makes up for that loss so I'm not sure, I may be waiting for a battery too unless they come up with a dealer CPO that they can work out a trade on.

If staying with an EV is important (I’ll never buy an ICE car again), then there are not a lot of options for a trade. Jaguar has not announced any about what comes next after all of their cars have been discontinue, and even Land Rover has not announced anything. What would be on table for a trade-in?

There are bunches of ‘23 and ‘24 I Paces sitting on dealer lots in the U.S.

The parameters that led to buying the I-Pace 5 years ago are very different than today. back then, it was the best choice, but it has not kept up. I don’t regret my decision 5 years ago (despite 10 months total in the shop) but I am not sure I’d pick it over a Macan today.

Yes, DC fast charging reduces battery life. It's one of the main contributors to degradation. I personally think the fire risk is very low when you only do L2 charging, but even then it's probably a good idea to keep it to less than 100%. I've tried doing that lately in my 2020 with 38K miles, and I don't think I will ever DC fast charge it again given that we now have the R1S for road trips. Fingers crossed.
I can't find it now, but I read some article in the past week that did a study and said they couldn't find that fast charging killed the batteries more quickly than if you don't. May have been Tesla specific, not sure. but fyi--what we thought was settled might not be.

yeah, its was great when it came out. But atrocious charging speeds alone make it untenable to buy now--unless they're offering 70% off. IMO.

When I had an ID3, I drove it on the autobahn and did a lot of 160kph (or close to it most of it a lot of the time) and it consumed 18kWh/100km. That is a little more than half what the I-Pace consumes at that speed. I am considering the Macan EV. Better range, faster charing, hitch etc... I-Pace looks great, drives great but is is now a 5+ year old design and I really don't like the smooth grille change (of all things to change). If they had a seriously modernized I-Pace, I'd look at it, but they don't.

Agreed the I-Pace is behind the current competition wrt efficiency and charging, but the the efficiency and charging rates have not changed over the last 5yrs.

When I bought 5yrs ago, the range and charging rates were acceptable for my needs - otherwise I wouldn't have bought it - and my needs haven't changed over that time either. I wasn't willing to compromise then, but I'm not interesting in buying features I don't need now.

I'm not trying to suggest that the I-Pace is perfect, but from my perspective automakers have bought into the paranoia regarding range and charging speed. Rather than selling what customers need, they seem to be reiterating what modern marketing/culture tells customers what they should have.

I understand. I made the choice based on the fact that it was the best choice at the time. From a style point of view, it is still up there, but I did make compromises. I do long drives (~600km) on a regular basis. The charging options are improving, but still limited. More range means more choices on when to stop. Faster charing means less time waiting. Driving an EV from Montreal to Toronto is 5.5-6 hrs in an ICE and 7+ in the I-Pace and still usually involves at least one throttled charger and charging is always the main thing on your mind as you drive, particularly in winter when you are down to 250km range. I think getting to 400km would make huge difference given how many times I was at 5% puling into a charge station.
