My update was done yesterday and I have yet to see any strange things with the GoM. I'll report back if something unexpected happens. 2019 First Edition.

Finally got my car back after the dealer replaced the lift gate (at their expense). Initially the car threw a traction battery fault when the update was applied, but it cleared itself after sitting at the body shop for two weeks.

Like others have reported, the GOM is showing a greatly reduced range but I'll give it time to relearn before worrying about that.

Adding knowledge to the community of enthusiasts:

  • car went in for routine 2-yr/21K maintenance, PiviPro already updated to 4.0 via OTA on June 30th
  • took a few hours to change fluids, rotate tires + realignment, change cabin filters, and check for any open recalls
  • left dealership the following day, noticed software updated to 4.0.1, interesting -- this was not a true software update, but rather the updating internal certificates to match recalls performed
  • still able to charge to 100% (~85kW useable), been noticing lately that sometimes (~2 occurrences) where the car would stop charging at 85% or 91-92%, if unplug and re-plug it will charge back up to 100%. This only happened after 4.0. Of note, my car has. brand new HV battery pack that was installed in May. Not thinking much of this as of now.

How long did it take to replace the battery pack? Was it in stock or did you have to wait for the parts?

There's a story behind why my car needed a battery pack replaced, see thread High Voltage Fault. In short, I had few battery module fail shortly after purchasing the car. Had the module replaced, things were good until a year later when I again couldn't charge beyond 94% and kept getting high voltage fault. So it was the same problem twice and corporate cleared for a whole new battery to be replaced, which I was very thankful. To answer your specific question: it took about 2 weeks or so for new battery to arrive from New Jersey.

If the BECM detects a non-normal event within a battery module, following completion of H441, then a
'Traction Battery Fault Detected' warning message will be displayed to the customer on the Instrument
Panel Cluster, the maximum battery charging capacity will be limited to 75%, and P1B48-00 will be stored
in the BECM. In this instance, upon entering a retailer, the below steps must be completed:

1. Select Fault and Breakdown
2. Select Diagnose a Fault to begin a new workflow
3. Add symptoms
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the following guided flow:
P1B48-00 - Hybrid EV Battery Voltage Deviation
5. The guided flow will inform you of which modules require renewing.

NOTE: If the guided flow detects more than 7 modules that require renewing then a new battery pack will
be required

As posted in the horrid range thread... Reading through this thread shows that many of you ignored its text. It reads "As an extra precaution, until the recall is completed and for the following 30 days, you should avoid charging to more than 75%" (I added the bolding.) Many of you promptly charged beyond 75%.
Guilty as charged. I read the admonition to wait 30 days, but couldn't stand the suspense when I got home from the H441 update. I had to charge it to 80%, just to know I could still do it. Charging was unrestricted, and otherwise, I saw no effects from the update (aside from the version number).

So I just scanned through about 1/3 of this thread...can someone clarify without me reading the other 125 posts...the car will charge over 75% post recall, and the 75% just applies if the system senses a real problem?

On a side note, I went to visit my 2019 I Pace yesterday at the dealer. It has been broken now for several months, waiting for a new battery control module. I took it home for a couple weeks to get it cleaned up and out of the sun and do some limited driving, but then the AC failed (5th time), and it was too hot to drive so I took it back to the dealer. And then the recall happened, so hopefully they will do that when it finally gets fixed. It has been at the dealer for probably 1/4 to 1/3 of the time since 2019. I keep hoping that the next fix will finally get it sorted. It is worth so little that it is hardly worth selling, but works so little that it is hardly worth keeping. My daughter and her husband could use a free car, but saddling them with this mess seems misguided. Any thoughts people? I've been here since the beginning in April of 2019 and was an enthusiastic supporter, and love the car when it works. But when is enough enough? When you are in a hole, stop digging?

Yes the car will charge over 75% post recall if there is no problem detected. Several people who got the recall before getting the US recall letter did just that. The letter recommends not charging above 75% for the first 30 days after the recall update is applied.

The dealer won't have a choice about applying the recall. Once they install a new BECM they have to validate it works and the software is up-to-date. That will install the recall level of software.

There are several causes of AC failure documented in other threads. Hopefully the dealer will investigate each service bulletin on the topic.

I'd be happy to take the car off your hands for $1. That's more than you'd get over giving it to your daughter for free. 😀

Before H441 our iPace was still showing 370km at 100% charge after 4 years trouble free and 130,000km. Driving car home after recall H441 software update ‘Traction battery fault detected’ displayed. Warning repeated at every start after that and all charging stopped at 72%. Dealer diagnosed one faulty cell and said H441 update damaged the battery, which sounded odd to me. However Jaguar New Zealand installed a completely new battery under warranty, so I am happy with that but none the wiser. I have asked for the whole job report but have not received it yet.

I took my 2019 HSE in two weeks ago for the update. Received a traction battery fault message after charging it a few days later. The dealer is telling me I need 2 12 volt batteries replace at a cost of over $1,000. Said it is not covered under warranty because I did not put on 10,000 miles per year. This makes absolutely no sense to me> Why should i=I have to pay for this????

Do what Docrwm says. There is no such language in the US warranty.

If you don't get satisfaction that way, you can replace the batteries for far less by doing the job yourself, or having a friend do it for you if you're not able to. There are instructions in 12V Battery Problems and Solutions threads.

If you don't get any satisfaction from Jaguar, try another dealer if you can. Or complain to dealership management. Lots of us on this forum have gotten free batteries under warranty. My car only had about 4,000 miles per year.

I got mine replaced at 17k last year in my 2020 for free under warranty. If what is being reported is true the dealer is full of something.....

Something about that is wrong. Dealer replaced these on my 19 HSE at the 20,000 mile mark under warranty in 2022. Took a while to get done but they even gave me a loaner LR Discovery for a few weeks. Only thing I had to do is ironically pay for gas to fill up the loaner.

I'm going to call my dealer tomorrow. I got the traction battery fault this morning. That was the only error. H441 was applied and the starter battery replaced 6 weeks ago. I don't think they replaced the aux battery then, but both batteries measured 12.6V-12.8V with my multi-meter today so I'm not too optimistic it's the aux battery. I haven't had any wonky range or charging issues since H441.
