Go i-Pace APP

Seems like a cracking idea to me.

Install the APP on your phone. Drive around for a bit (in your stinky old ICE :) ). The APP will then tell you how much you would have had to charge and how much money you would have saved.

Here's Robert Llewellyn (of FullyCharged fame) giving it a spin:

Nice idea, well done Jag :)

Hmmm, cute idea, but do I want Jaguar to have a record of my driving?
I'd rather just do the back of the envelope calculation ...

100 miles in my Touareg = six gallons of premium = $25
100 miles in my A3 in hybrid mode = 2.5 gallons = $10
100 miles in my A3 all electric mode = 40 kWh = free because I have solar :)

Elevation, temperature / weather conditions, location of rapid chargers where you might have stopped ... not totally trivial for the Napkin Scribble

Don't buy a Tesla then (and quite possible a jag too). Every journey logged. And your Spouse will be able to see that you stopped at your Mistress on the way home ... :)

I can see every day in the calendar, every journey and charge on that day, and the data logged by the car (hundreds of variables) for every minute of every day since I owned it. Scary on the one hand, very handy on the other.

I live in the Green square (its a big house, but not that big :) )

This has come to feel like the new normal for me ... a bit like before/after Electric Windows and Central Locking ...

Holy crap that's creepy.

Well I guess Google knows where I am all the time, in real time ... for some bizarre reason I don't mind if Google has it but I'm distrustful of non-data companies. Which is probably totally irrational.

And you live in the UK where surveillance cameras are everywhere anyway ;)

I know exactly what you mean.

Would Jag actually know where YOU went from the APP? i.e. any reason for them to tie your journeys to you specifically ... I haven't looked at the APP, but m assumption would be that it didn't need any personal data.

I like the idea of an APP that shows how "doable" journeys would be in an EV to help the range-anxiety wavers get comfortable with the idea.
Anybody worried about personal privacy is way too late. :D

I’ve been using the app for a while now. Covered 2000 miles over 168 journeys and it reckons my range will be 216 miles. I must say I found that a little disappointing but not disappointing enough to cancel my order. However, I really hope they can find improvements to get more out of it. I was hoping to get somewhere in the 240-250 area. 216 is totally usable for me, but it does make those (albeit rare) longer road trips less appealing.
