I'm just curious if any owners have had a faulty wiring harness and had a Vin that was outside the effected Vin number range that was in the jlr bulletin. My car is out of the range so wondering if I should still be worried?JLRTB02012NAS4 - 09 MAR 2021, VINs F60094-F80069
Mine is F844x

VIN ranges mentioned in TSBs are always "approximate" and not definitive ranges. If JLR would state that they started putting updated harnesses in vehicles produced since Fnnnnn then we'd know for sure. You'll only know for sure if (a) it breaks or (b) you wear out the car and it didn't break or (c) JLR issues a recall and they declare it good or replace it.

Good to know. It's not happening on every i-Pace so maybe it was just a bad batch of harnesses. The car did get the reduced brake warning but a software update and replacing the 12v battery seemed to fix the issue. Also, just wondering if the 12v batteries is replaced to fix Gremlins in our cars won't this occur again unless jlr goes to a different type of battery. Is a gel battery or different type of battery more reliable thank stock.

Well it happened to me tonight. Stopped to grab take out dinner on the way home from a long day at work. Backed out of the parking spot and the infamous “gear box fault” warning came up and gear selector started flashing. Contacted Jaguar assist and they sent a tow truck with in 45 mins. I have to say the roadside assistance was really easy. Working for Ford dealers, I’ve heard horror stories from the company they use to facilitate theirs. So I guess we will see what happens. I have to say this is the first car I’ve ever owned with less than 20k miles that I had to have towed. I guess there is a first time for everything.
The worst part was it was stuck in the middle of the parking lot blocking traffic and of course draws a crowd of people asking if they can help. Plus there is always one guy that has to make a comment about Jaguar engineering. I just told him, well if it has **** or tires you are going to have problems.

Sorry to hear of your problems. Yes, typical wiring harness issue symptoms.
Mine went last Spring: Very early VIN#, so wasn't surprised. However, that said it seems to be luck of the draw. The good news is once fixed the I-Pace is better than new.

My car falls within the VIN range...could someone post a PDF of the TSB? My car has had so many problems, and it seems this is one of the few things that has not been done.

Reading the TSB and looking at my wiring and pictures of broken wiring, it appears the problem is the motor side attachment of the wiring mounting point, which is wiring solder joints. The repair includes a fix to attach the wiring to the motor via a new mounting clip (in addition to a new wiring harness), then the wiring goes from this new motor mounting point, to the parking solenoid. This means the required flexing is happening in a section of the wire and not at the wiring solder joint connections on the solenoid. The motor flex is due to the rubber mounts for the motor, one of which the wiring harness runs right next to.

Thanks for the link and so my VIN F60275 is within the range. Is there anything I need to do. As I reported a few weeks ago, my FE was towed to the local dealer and I was told that the code they got indicating it is the wiring but the car had to be towed to anther dealer to get fixed. However, upon checking the codes, the other dealer said it is not wiring but bad batteries and they just replaced both 12v batteries. It has been 3 weeks and the car is driving fine. The 12v batteries has been replaced twice and the last one only lasted 11 months. Do I need to be worried? Thanks again.

It would not be driving fine if it were the wiring harness. Yes, the car throws all kind of codes when a 12V battery goes bad and some of them are the same as one gets with a broken wiring harness. I just had the original 12V auxiliary battery go bad (yes, glutton for punishment rather than using the substitute battery) and pulled 40 fault codes from various modules because of that. Some of them are the same as a broken wiring harness.

Not all cars will fail. I have no better way of predicting if yours (or mine) will fail than your guessing will provide.

It would be a good thing if everyone in the US who had wiring harnesses replaced go to the NHTSA website and report their failure and encourage NHTSA to pressure JLR for a recall. Site NHTSA ID 10169910. This can be quite hazardous if it happens in traffic.

I had a chance to talk to a Jaguar master tech at another dealer and he said bacically the samething. He said if it were wiring harnesses, I should have exparienced problem by now. He said except those battery problem, Jagura in general is a great car and we need no worry. He does agree that there should be better warning about 12v battery going bad

Latest update is the wire harness is the culprit. I’m told it will take about 2 days to get the part. I’ll be surprised if I get it back by the end of next week. I know it’s a large job, but another 2 weeks at the shop. I sure hope this is the last time to the dealer for a bit. This is the only major issue we have had in the year we have owned it. However, we have figured it has been at the shop a combined total of 5 weeks.
Being a technician and working at a dealership for many years, I always want to develop a relationship with the dealership personnel and buy services rather than just bring it for warranty work. So I’m having them replace the tires and do an alignment. They definitely aren’t the cheapest place for the tires, but while it’s in there and I am using a loaner vehicle, I’ll go ahead and give them some customer pay revenue. Also, customers that bought services and kept their car maintained at my dealer always got better customer service rather than the warranty only folks.
I will update when it gets back home.

Surprised it took so long to diagnose? Jag knows it's a problem area. Anyway sounds like the dealer is treating you well - impt with these cars.

I think they knew pretty quickly. But this dealer is relatively small and only have a limited amount of EV techs. This one particular service advisor I got isn’t the most prompt so next time I’ll get someone else. Fortunately the F-pace they gave me as a loaner is pretty nice. Over all the dealer is pretty good. They just seem to be so slow at repairs. I’m not sure if they are that busy or that limited on help.
