New to this forum. I’m not sure if this has been covered earlier.

I’ll pick up my I-Pace this week. Dealer offers extended warranties and other protection. Do most people choose extended warranties?

1. Tire and wheel replacement? $3000
2. Armor all inside and out $800
3. Mechanical and electrical warranty up to 100,000 miles $4000
4. Exterior paint protection $600

Are these worth it? Did you negotiate?

I chose none. $3k is a lot for wheel and tire replacement. Maybe worth it if you know you're going to break multiple 22s, but if that's gonna happen, just buy and swap 18s.

Armor all? Meh. For less money, you can have professionals do the whole car, inside out, with better products.

Mechanical and electrical might be worth it. Are you keeping your car for 100k miles? How many years? What are the terms? What's covered? The battery already has a 100k mile warranty.

Exterior paint? See armor all comment.

A month ago, my dealer didn't have Mechanical/Electrical up to 100K miles as an option. They had no price. Where are you located, and is this now something that exists (as I get a new, new I-Pace after my first one ceased up on Monday)?

I took none except an "Appearance package warranty" which cost $500 and covered the seats, carpets, upholstre, matts, etc against just about everything, as well as the outside covered tree sap, insect damage (to fender), hard water etching, bird droppings, etc.

Even with that I went to a professional detailer who professional Ceramic coated the car for another $600 after he spent hours getting the swirl marks and lite scratches the "prep" guys at JLR put in the paint prepping the car for pick-up.. This took awhile because I spent a bunch of time researching the better ceramic coatings and many of the local shops used cheap crap.

I opted for a package that included 5-year road hazard (wheel & tire - I have 22s on carbon fiber trimmed wheels) for $1338, 7 year interior AND exterior appearance protection (included application of ceramic coating and scratch protection) for $1095, 5-year paintless dent repair for $449, and key replacement (replacing / programming an i-pace key aint cheap). So all told, almost 3% of purchase price to insure/protect the most vulnerable 'wear and tear' elements of the vehicle: appearance (int/ext), wheel/tire, and lost keys.
I declined the 7 year/70k mi extended warranty (covers the 2 years beyond the 5 year/60k mi Jag warranty), quoted at $3058.

Wow- those are relatively reasonable prices. Did you negotiate those warranty prices? The folks at Hennessy Jag in Atl quoted me 1000 for the paint less dent removal and 7500 for the extended warranty. Very pushy- reminded me what I love about buying a car.

I, too, was dreading the "finance manager" meeting where all the 'extras' are touted and typically 'hard-sold'. The options were presented in 4 "packages" ranging from Elite to Economy (although everything also available a la carte or mix/match), and to my surprise were not pushed hard and priced reasonably. I can't say enough about this dealership - Crown Jaguar in St. Petersburg - but this photo below (I took, not theirs) is worth 1000 words (Pride of Jaguar Award 8 years running). Being one of the highest volume dealers in the country they can probably accept a more reasonable margin on these add-on sales. I didn't negotiate (other than on my trade in value) but they essentially 'threw in" the key replacement ($495 value) on account of the fact I had aborted a botched delivery (wrong headliner) from another dealer just 24 hours earlier, walked into their dealership and drove their (at the time) only FE right off the showroom floor. Everyone is motivated for year-end sales, and in the case of EVs even the customer!

I did the Smartshield (ArmorAll) because it gives 10 year warranty on paint and interior. Yes, you can negotiate.

I always pass on the extended warranties. The vehicle comes with a good, lengthy warranty to begin with. This said, I usually don't keep cars longer than 3 or 4 years anyway so for me it just doesn't make much sense. If you think you'll have the car 7 years from now it might be worth it.
