I charge with EVgo at the local super Mall. As with most charging stations, there is a CHAdeMO outlet and a Combo outlet (for us). While there are two outlets, there is only enough electrical energy to charge one car at a time. Twice I have plugged in, started charging, and went to dinner for an hour. Both times I have returned to see that someone has pressed the STOP charging button, plugged in their CHAdeMO car and started charging their car. I wrote EVgo and suggested that since you need their card to start charging, they could design it so you need the card to stop charging, though this would eliminate using the button in emergencies. Has anyone else had this problem and solved it rationally?

Haven't had the problem yet. Thoughts:

Keep your ChargePoint/EVgo/Jaguar app open. Turn on notifications if applicable. I know when my car stops charging.

IIRC, there is a 45m limit on EVgo? You should never use a DCFC as a parking stall. Charge then move. Even if that means jogging out to the lot and back.

Call the provider when you see somebody misuse the equipment. The number is on the equipment and in the application? I think the app it's a single button press to contact service. They know who is plugged in, and may suspend their charging account.

I recently charged at an EVgo station that has both a Chademo and CCS charger from the same unit. But on this one, it asks you to select which charger, I was assuming it would allow both chargers to be in use at the same time as the charging station was twice as big as the one that was Chademo only next to it. But I was surprised that anyone can touch the screen and select stop charging on my vehicle. Granted, they cannot remove the CCS cable when my vehicle is locked.

Also of note is that I went to the grocery store, returned to unload and unlocked the vehicle and it kept charging while I unlocked and loaded and then re-locked the vehicle to go continue shopping. Only until I selected stop charging on the station and unlocked my vehicle did it allow for me to remove the charge cable.

Guerilla charging? Bring a nicely done vinyl sock that says "OUT OF ORDER" like you see on gas nozzles, and put it on the CHAdeMO while you are charging CCS. Just remember to remove it when done.
