ECO Mode Works! 241 mi range on a long day trip...

On the basis of a couple of airport round trips (120mi) at high speed (75-80mph) and in Comfort mode with HVAC, seat heaters, etc. used liberally, I had come to the conclusion my highway range was in the 180mi vicinity. :-(

Today I had to travel to a distant (~90mi) city, so I had my first 'range anxiety' about the round trip without a charge. I charged to 100% overnight; the car read 214 mi range (I've been doing more highway driving lately). On the way there I took a mix of local roads (45-55mph), not just for range, but because I had other stops. I avoided the racetrack starts the car usually encourages me to enjoy, and reached my destination, 87 miles away, with a range of 150 still on the gauge! This was the first time my ACTUAL mileage (87mi) exceeded my GoM CONSUMED mileage (214-150=64mi).

After scouting out a couple sites nearby (about another 10 mi of driving), I took all freeway back home (95mi trip), again staying in ECO mode, speed at 65-70. I used AC about 1/3 of the time (I noticed as I set out it reduced range by 15 mi on the GoM), but did not use seat heaters/coolers. Also charged my phone and used the radio most of the way back.

Bottom line, I got home with 50mi of range left! The total drive was 86+10+95=191 mi and yet I had 50mi range left. Very happy with this 'new math'. ECO mode rocks when optimal range is needed! (and the GoM adjusted: I 'used' 100mi on the GoM (150-50) to go an actual 97mi taking the freeway back)

Thanks for reporting, what was the ambient temperature during this trip?

I find that in 40F if I have car plugged in before I leave (battery preconditioned), driving on Eco mode I can get around 210-215 real miles with running the inside climate set to 73 and seat heat to 1. This is however with smart climate on and just me in the car. So I can easily see getting 240 if the ambient is in the 60-70 range.

And even in Eco I am driving normally, I am not doing the "drive sick grandma who is carrying eggs on her head" method of maximizing range, which usually makes a significant difference in EV range. I am not flooring it but gentle normal acceleration/deceleration.

I find Eco definitely alters not just the curve of the accelerator but does optimize the range.

Ok so I decided to try low power mode. With eco and no climate on my remaining range was 187. With low power enabled it was...190. So unless I am in dire absolute panic of 0% and only need 2 more miles I am not sure what the use of the low power mode is. Just turn off climate, seat, wheel, and go to Eco and drive like grandma.
360km - 220m radius in eco mode

Trying out the Ipace for c. 3 weeks, I'm now at c.360km effective range (c.220 miles) when using eco mode, adaptive cruise control, no seat heating, no airco, and at legal speeds with mixture of highways (mainly) and smaller roads.

The indicator of estimated range only slowly adapts to changes in drive behaviour, so a bit spooky to see a low radius while actually I know I could be driving more than indicated (indicator just decreases more slowly then). But regardless of range indicator, radius is pretty ok for me.

By the way, using comfort mode, airco, no adaptive cruise control, and somewhat more sporty driving style, less highways, radius is about 300km (c.185m) - not too bad...
Guys, I get the same range regardless of the mode I use, a 5 mile spread covers eco mode through the red dial sport mode.

In fact the Red or comfort modes are the most fun anyways.

"ECO" mode in a Jag, what a concept!!

If I had my way........

2716 miles. Never used it once >:)

Though I've limped home in Power Saver with 0 miles left and 3 miles to go. Not a pleasant experience! But no different from coasting down the hill to the gas station on ICE fumes.

When I first got mine, I caught the dealer somewhat unaware, since they didn't know I would buy that day (or which car I might buy).

Their level two charger was out of order (and the high power unit wasn't installed until a week later), so they did what they could with a level one charger during my sales paperwork. 30 miles of range was what I drove off with. That was plenty to get it home only five miles away, but all I had at that time was the level one charger myself.

So I was a little paranoid and used eco mode and grandma driving style (intending no disrespect for the little old ladies of Pasadena!). After some DAYS of level one charging (waiting for my level two to arrive, and then the separate wait for an adapter I didn't know I needed for the garage dryer outlet to mate up with the cord outlet), and some little driving interrupting the charging, the guess-o-meter showed I had 260 miles of range.

I never tried to see if that was so, since my level two arrived and I went to comfort mode and drove more normally, charging at a 55% remaining LoC. But it was an exciting thing to see! Now a full charge typically shows the nominal iconic 234 mile range.

If you purchased in ft Lauderdale, there is a fast charger at Wilton Manor city hall. Too bad the dealer didn’t provide you with the option. Glad to hear you got your charger

Thanks for the info!

I am sometimes in Wilton Manors but I have no idea where the city hall is. I will know, soon! (It's a very small enclave nicknamed The Island City, because it sits between some canals and entering/exiting it is always over a little bridge. A couple of square blocks to look in, is all. )
