Drag strip tested, but incomplete.

Due to a very strong headwind, California Speedway in Fontana was capped at 1/8th mile racing. Too much headwind to ignore.
87% charge, 20" OEM A/S tires set 35psi all four, Dynamic, TRACdsc (TC off), gentle power braking, no burnout, drove around water, 3 passes were near identical so I called it a day:

60' = 2.070s
1/8 ET = 8.36
1/8 MPH = 85.35

What it will do in a 1/4 mile, without a crazy strong headwind? I'm guessing 12.9 @ 107, but I don't really know.

So a disappointing test day, but it was also my son's first time drag racing so the day was not a complete loss.

Can we even do an AWD burnout?
You could heat your rear tires, but I've found with AWD/4x4 it has little effect under 750 whp.
The rears are where most the thrust is. But I'd guess powerbraking the front EV motor is not good for the inverter or motor.
You would really want to disable the front motor and use a line lock on the front to minimize harm to the electrics.

Treaded tires carry water to the start line. So if you want to try, drive around the water box, then back into the water with the rears, then pull forward out of the standing water, powerbrake until the rears spin. If you get wheel hop, STOP. You will break parts by wheelhop.
Trivia - By looking at my old timeslips, the I-Pace is roughly as quick as a 1997-2004 C5 Corvette manual base, or an 1998-2002 Camaro or Firebird 5.7L LS1 V8 with drag radials and an experienced manual trans driver.
Not bad for only for the I-Pace power to weight ratio. Base Corvette 345HP ~3300lb. True Z/28 RWHP is about 310rwhp at 3700lb, but the true HP was closer to 360hp at the crank.
In actual traffic situations, the I-Pace is considerably quicker than those.
It will certainly break any legal speed in the USA, in 660' from a stoplight, and get you a 2 point "Over 100mph" ticket which is like a drunk driving or reckless ticket, in 1320' (1/4mi). It requires a SNELL helmet to dragrace it at an NHRA track.
I believe the I-Pace has torque management at 0 to ~ 10mph. Without being able to datalog the ECM, I am guessing. TQM is also called abuse control, it limits the torque on a launch to avoid damaging driveline parts. I could be wrong.
It might go quicker at 100% charge as well.
Hacks will make this car even more fun. It's hard not to go fast. The car is wonderfully stable at high speed.

THIS is what I think makes the I-Pace one of the greatest cars to own & drive regularly. You can own cars that can go faster - but ONLY in situations/environments that you do not encounter in daily driving. Stoplight to stoplight, there's NOTHING more fun than our I-Paces!! No ICE vehicle can come close to keeping up with you 0-40 mph. Few 0-60. Only Teslas are in the same ballpark (or better) for the speed, but nowhere near as comfortable/luxurious. And, we get to use all this power silently without garnering attention from anybody who didn't happen to be looking right at you in the first place.

Get some ___ing high-power CCS chargers spread across the nation, and we'll be golden!! I live in an absolute desert (literally & EV distance travel metaphorically). But, for driving around the city - I don't know of ANY car currently available (or planned for 2019) that I want more!

My previous car was a Fisker Karma, and one of the software updates available shortly after its release was to step down the power off the line because it was possible for the motors to tear apart your own differential. EV's are crazy powerful!

The Jaguar wafts, as they say. It has more torque than necessary. I love it all.

Indeed. I just think it's a funny name all things considered. Is there a performance knock-down that'll keep you from beating the **** out of it off-road? Some kind of a vertical g-force limiter? Or maybe at least a set of skid plates you can add?

Even more touchy (good joke though) I typed "h*ll". I wouldn't scold a 12-year-old for that.
what is the 0 - 60? I saw motor trend and some others had gotten low 4's on their demo models with 22"s. I'm hoping an i-pace with 20's and a healthy SOC could get a sub 4 second result.
In one of the umpteen drag races / 'tests' posted on youtube somebody got a 4.2 IIRC. I'm not aware of any sub-4.
