Don't accept the first offer for the H514 buy back! Countering will most likely get you an extra 15%

I've been following this forum and the H514 Facebook group and have noticed that many of the counter offers from JLR are exactly 15% higher than the initial offer (see table below). Note that the table excludes CA buy backs.

There is zero risk to asking for more than your initial offer and people are reporting that it only takes a few days for JLR to get back to you with their counter.

I've also noticed that there is a lot of variability in initial offers within trims and mileage, even within a specific region based on what people are reporting.

Thanks any idea why there is such a wide range of discrepancies? Is it based on state? Original MSRP? As I posted on my thread I have a high MSRP 2019 and my initial offer was very low for no real reason. Only thing besides state I am in may be that I have really had no major issues or down time with the car.

I have no idea--I've seen a wide variety of initial offers, even within my city for the same trim and significantly higher mileage. If anything, it's probably the MSRP. There were probably $20K+ in options that could be added on top of even the HSE trim which might explain the discrepancy.

So I got a call asking me if I was going to accept the second offer, I told them no. She asked about the counter offer, then said that they will not go any higher. When I asked again about the warranty on battery she stated JLR will not be replacing or repairing any batteries. I informed her that I am rejecting the offer and am contacting state of Maryland.

I am filing a complaint with Maryland first because when I called they clearly stated that it is something they would deal with. My next step will be to engage an attorney and start action on my own. So if there is anyone else in Maryland dealing with this please feel free to message me.

Let the fun begin.
