A particularly negative article on the I-Pace, certainly out of context with other articles I have read. You wonder how much the writer is driven by his hometown audience, techie cars or general frustrations with innovation. The image of the frunk probably serves no purposes other than to create an impression of the writer's mindset. A more balanced review (good & bad) would serve to justify his position which is unfortunate. Doubtless, some of his comments are accurate - still looking forward to driving mine next month.

Yeah, he seems to be a crumudgeon who doesn't like anything new and can't get past it to actually review the performance of the car. Wouldn't put much stock into his opinion. Also, the I-Pace will be delivered with Apple CarPlay installed. So that particular complaint is completely invalid.

He keeps alluding to the fact that you should just buy a luxury ICE SUV. The fact of the matter is, you can't get close to 0-60 in 4.5 in a BMW X5 unless it's the M class. And now you're into 6 figures.
I am happy the frunk is small. The entire design was to make more cabin space.... not to have otherwise wasted space under the bonnet.
The larger Tesla space seems more like a defect to me.

One of the reasons I didn't buy a Model S/X was their physical size. I have a luxury large sedan that is better equipped than a Tesla. But for daily use I'd rather have something that was not 196" long. The i-Pace is full foot shorter. Only 7" longer than a Chevrolet Volt yet with good seating for 5 adults.
Hmm, it's a capricious mix of astute observations, simple facts, and silly misrepresentations. Not one of the better-researched reviews. Best to ignore.
BTW, people in Europe now receiving their cars report that Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are there and work fine. I've never encountered software from a car maker that comes close to those.

Dude spent 1/3 or the article complaining about the HVAC and phone connectivity. Is he a car reviewer or a phone user? Not so many complaints from the Velar owners, and it's mostly the same.

This is precisely why I prefer to see articles from actual automotive publications than a newspaper that just so happens to have an automotive column. :grin2:

A version of this article found its way into our paper last Saturday. The guy didn't bother to figure out how to use any controls before starting off on a test drive, and he as dissatisfied with how much of a cell phone add on the car was ... ?!! And, from THAT - he hated the whole car.

Virtually all of his complaints would not be experienced by anybody who owned the car and learned how to use it. And, he spent little time discussing it as a "car" - and what little he did was positive and did not support the headline/conclusion.

Frankly, I was left to wonder if they guy's wife hadn't once left him for somebody that drove a Jag.

Phone hooked up fine, and I hate cellphones, and don't know how to work my iPhone X(?). Carplay is Carplay. I didn't like it 2 years ago and I don't like it today, but for those who like it, it's there and works like Carplay.
Brief video on Jag's site explains how to use the A/C but I figured it out in 10 miles on the way home while driving. Author must have been having a bad day.

Well we hve to understand where this is coming from. "Detroit" and the "Detroit" world is in such deep trouble that the viewpoints are surly going to be negative on non ICE type vehicles. May HAVE made some good points but some of this is new car type, some is "I don't like your style" SUBJECTIVE.

I researched this car so much (over a year) that as usual for me I knew more than most any dealer/sales person.

I LOVE IT.
