My car's smart and infotainment systems are generally reliable and consistent but there are 2 things that throw both into confusion. If I am driving and my wife keeps her key and phone in her purse the system has no idea which profile to use even if I use my key to unlock the car. Our home pages disappear and smart settings show as unavailable. Once the offending key and phone is removed the system responds well.

Using the infotainment system with the electrical system on but with the motor off also confuses a number of features. The confusion carries over after the motor is running for a number of minutes.

I've seen really good reliability if I avoid these two situations.

I don't use profiles for that reason. I do encounter minor glitches now and then with bluetooth or AA. When I first got the car I set stuff up after some research and experimentation and haven't had to change anything since.

My wife's driving set up is so different from mine it would take too long to change everytime one of us gets behind the wheel. Plus I always seem to forget something and she's not comfortable yet mashing buttons.

I find the smart settings to be helpful as long as we take one phone and key and I stay away from changing settings with only the electrical system powered on.

I've noticed when I approach the car with the fob in my pocket with my phone, the phone can prevent the fob signal registering.

Both come out of pocket when I've entered, so it's a limited problem.
I've noticed something like the glitches with just the electrical system on running the entertainment, so thanks for helping my crystalize that factor for me.

With both keys and phones in the car the profiles disappear for awhile and when I select smart settings it shows as unavailable. After a few minutes the infotainment settles down and I can select my profile.

I just have had no luck with one keyfob or with phone to constantly recall profiles, so the problem is the same even without your situation. The better part is when it starts deleting my profiles and I have to start all over again.

I am waiting to recreate any profiles until update...

I am on 19A and only have the boot up process of infotainment delay, but not minutes. Maybe it is related to your SW version?

I had the same problem the first week I owned the car but it's been great since. Not sure what the difference is between our cars.

I named my car after my 3 y/o granddaughter and my car loves me as much as I love her. Lol ?

Our's is going back to the shop once again. This time continued charging quirks, despite the cable and port replacement last time. Infotainment sound (no sounds from anything) required a reboot. Later, adjusting the climate control killed the sound. The replacement door handle trim is ready and will be installed. This visit will push us well over 30 days in the shop out of 3 months owning. We would really like this car to work, but this one has just had too many issues to forgive, including the sudden death in the middle of the road. We fear this will reoccur, but some believe it was a software issue that has been resolved. Phantom door lock/un-locks preventing charging, or causing the alarm to sound has been an issue since day 1. The rear hatch foot sensor is good one day, but dead the next. On and on....I just want to own a reliable vehicle and this one has simply lost our faith. The last shop visit included all the latest updates and regen recall fixes, but perhaps these still have issues. My friend today stated her Tesla has never had any issues or need to go into the shop. Hers is more than 2 years old. The I-Pace is nicer looking, but thats about it.

Sorry to hear about your experience. It's the risk we all take with a new vehicle, and it's frustrating to get the short end of the stick. :frown2:

@happyras - it reads as loose/bad ground(s) connection(s) somewhere, or a defective circuit board. Door lock and alarm related issues could be the switch in the latch that tells the car whether the door is closed or locked. I've seen that in a different brand of vehicles.

Your situation reminds me of back in the '90s when a multi-million dollar computer had to be replaced where I worked due to a litany of issues not seen on any others from the manufacturer. The replacement had no issues. The original computer had serial number 13. Truly a case of bad luck. Odd but true.

We have the same issue...in fact, every time we tried to set up a profile...even when we did it with the "expert" from the dealership when he came to our house for a walkthrough of all the features of the car, the profiles deleted all our home screen apps and shortcuts that we had set up and we just couldnt get things to stick. So we gave up completely on the key fob profiles and just had to come to an agreement on settings/setup that we could both live with.

The one thing that we starkly disagree on is regen level....I'm a High, my spouse despises High regardless of when a passenger or a driver. So we are constantly having to toggle between that, and it makes me CRAZY that 1) There is no hard button or paddle (like in other cars) to change the mode, and 2) That it's buried in the My EV section, and 3) That the EV Panel shortcut you can put on the home screen fails to load on our home screen about 75% of the time. It's maddening! I even brought it to the dealer to see if they could do some kind of update to fix it and they said I'm on the latest software and there was nothing else they could do at this time. It seriously makes me so frustrated and has caused some fairly heated arguments in the car when I leave regen on High and the other person has to go diving into the menus to turn it down to Low because the car keeps forgetting the Home screen shortcut to change that setting.

Now out of service 60+ days in just over 3 months. 35 or more in the shop, the rest parked waiting for appointment.

Sadly, I agree it is simply a very yellow car at this point. I did post something today on the Failed Regen thread. Every time I get the car back something either reoccurs or something new happens. I think the TSB they found on the hood latch may be related to the charging issues, but they think the loss of the climate display and audio is due to Apple Car Play possibly. Funny thing is each E-Pace, F-Pace and now the Velar seem to work and run great. Except I did find the cracked handle trim on the Velar as well.

When mine was in the shop for 9 days my service manager told me they can (and have before) submit claims to JLR for reimbursement of car payments prorated based on how many days you're without it. In my case, I didnt file one because he said at the time to wait until the service was done to see how many total days it would take (at the time we were uncertain how long they'd have the car). I decided that 9 days wasn't enough to file a claim, but I hope you're doing that with yours. I'd be livid and demanding a buyback if mine was out of my hands for that long. The quality control on the I-PACE seems to be a real issue. I'm definitely worried for how it'll hold up at the 1 or 2 year mark.
