The climate controls on my car only work occasionally. Sometimes 5 minutes into a drive the screen will light up (along with the temperature control knobs). Once they come on they will continue to work until I turn the car off. Sometimes I can drive for half an hour and they never come on. Without that screen (and the knobs) you can't change the temperature, you can't use heated or cooled seats, you can't use the heated windshield, you can't do regular front defrost (though the MAX defrost button does work). I would say the screen only works normally 1 time out of 20 when I sit down in the car and turn it on. If I drive somewhere and turn off the car, it will be broken again when I start it up again.
It's actually been doing this for about 3 months, but the temperature control still runs as it was set the last time the screen and knobs worked. I only took it into the dealer this morning because it's getting cold enough that I'm annoyed by the lack of heated seats and occasional windshield fogging up.
The service manager said she hadn't ever seen this specific problem. Anyone else familiar with it?
