The ChargePoint is a 32A charger; is there any advantage in buying the JuiceBox Pro 40A charger? I am assuming not since the charging current will be limited by the on-board charger of the I-Pace, but just curious.

The limit will be the onboard L2 charger, whatever that is. Also if you want 40A you will need a different set of wires from your breaker box to support 50A max.

Thanks. That's what I thought. So there's no obvious advantage in buying the 40A charger as the 7kW on-board charger limits the charging current to about 30A at 240V.

Have read the 7kW but have yet to know if that is input or output.
Not sure if the amps are increased if connected to a 208v circuit vs 240v.
Standard specs just don't go this deep.

If it is 7kW to the battery on 208v I could see the draw close to 36 amps.

All good questions, in all the EVs that allow setting charge limit it is ALWAYS specified as current limit, not power limit. So that would imply they limit the current for safety reasons and may not compensate for voltage drop. Which makes sense considering the wiring is current rated.

This lines up with my experience that at my house, where I have 240v the cars tend to charge a little faster than at work, where we have a 208v circuit.
