To those that took delivery in CA and applied for your CAV decals, how long did it take from when you sent in the form / check? I sent mine in on 2/16 and haven't heard back yet (and the check hasn't hit my bank).

Takes forever. I also sent my in on February 12, and DMV still hasn't cashed the check yet. CARB website says 30 days. Right :frown2:

I sent mine in December 2018 and it was just delivered today. Long time. We thought they lost it or there was some problem we were unaware of. I was expecting a you didn't fill out something correctly form, didn't receive that just took a long time.

On another note I didn't realize that they want me to place four stickers on the car! My car is too pretty for four stickers. I'm seriously having second thoughts if it is worth it. I have fast pass already so not sure how much I'm going to gain by having diamond access that isn't already fast pass. Hmmmmm.

no, the carpool program for EV's will terminate forever in 2022 as the new Governor Moonbeam makes owning an EV a stupid option for California unless you have a lot of solar and batteries hooked up for your car use at home.

Use it while you can.

Also, get used to using Waze as your GPS system for 2022. Carpool lane surfing very effective using waze.

Been surfing the car pool lane for a long time before EV use made it redundant and never got caught, though I had a few close calls.

Looks like those skills will be leaned on again in around 2022 once again.

PG&E going to be turning up power costs 3x to cover their and the state of California Incompetence by then anyways.

Remarkable reading Mark Twain comments about California and San Francisco political bungling from over 100 years ago.

Seems nothing has changed since he made the observation......

I bought paint protection film which I am going to attached the CAV stickers to. Cut it out to size then attach that to the body of the car. That way, you can take it off as a whole when the stickers expire. Otherwise, that CAV stickers are a pain to take off.

Good suggestion, Thx. My car already has 3M paint protection all over. I would have to put paint protection on top of paint protection.

I will forgo the car pool lane surfing. I also prefer Google maps to Waze. As a super commuter I tried both for extended periods of time and found waze takes you off the freeway far too many times for such little game it's a hassle. That is with a 65 mile commute one way.

Can you link to what paint protection film you got?

Also, we mailed in our sticker form on Feb 28th, they still haven't cashed the check.

I sent in the application on ~Jan 30, finally got them late last week.

I don't need the privilege on a daily (or even weekly) basis, so this is what I did:

Put Gorilla tape on the back of the sticker protective material (you know, the stuff you're supposed to take off to expose the sticky side .. I left that on and covered it in Gorilla tape).

Then, if I need it, I use double-sided tape to stick it onto the rear flank. It sticks very well, but can also be peeled off .. off the car and off the gorilla tape. That way I retain the integrity of the sticker upon reuse. And if I really do need it permanently I can still peel it off and stick it on in the way that it's intended.

I never could understand why they didn't use a special plate for EVs. It would have saved them money in the long run. Just have one of the CHARS designate the year of MFR in cases like California where they want to cancel your stickers every couple of years. Basically, it seems like they created a layer of bureaucracy to increase the budget and burn up EV program money faster.

Got mine yesterday, too. Now since the I-Pace has short rear bumper overhangs, how do you fit two stickers in rear quarter panel? Can I just put one big sticker there?
I put the large ones on the left and right sides of the plastic bumper cover (painted).
I put a small one to the right of the rear license plate on the black plastic plate area.
I put another small one in the in the owners manual packet.
I will plead stupidity if they say anything. I'm not running a front plate either.

I had them on my LEAF and barely used the carpool lanes in those 3 years.
RAV4-EV I just put the stickers in the glovebox if I should become desperate. Still in the glove box when traded for the I-Pace.
I-Pace I am just skipping it. Don't like the look.

Seems like for my commute it is just not needed. Weekends and other times the carpool is just stopped anyway same as the other lanes so no point. Or I have 2+ in the vehicle and no need for a sticker.

For some I understand it makes a huge difference.
