My first great surprise is how good it looked in person. Something about the photos just did not do it justice, and I was hesitant about its looks before I saw it. I figured I'd get it anyway, and just accept a compromise on how it looked. Unnecessary! Turned out it was very sleek and stylish for my taste.
Then before I really learned its features, I could still work the sound system, and the upgraded Meridian system is superb. I got a kick out of the automatic windshield wipers when they first activated, and the same with the auto high beam lamps. I assume many cars have similar features, but it was all new to me coming from a 2006 medium priced car. Other features are also commonly available these days, but since I never had them, the Apple CarPlay and SiriusXM were wonderful. I am also new to the safety features, which I absolutely required in a new ride. They are present in abundance.
I really like the driving character of the car, of course. Acceleration like nothing I've owned before, and I love the one foot driving with high regen. Specific to south Florida, I wanted the AWD for rainy roads, and the ability to take on the high water pools that regularly flood the intersections here. Covered!
Very minor negatives include an rpm-related whine in the AM radio reception (which I'll experience only rarely with the newer sound source options). The rear view is limited, but the blind spot indicators on the outside mirrors help make up for it. The over-nested obscurity of some controls is tedious, but when they are set and forget it, doing it once is fine.
It is not perfect. Just very close.
