Year: 2019
Mileage: ~5000
12v battery: Y
12v traction battery: Y
Main battery: N
Battery Control Module had to be replaced at around 3.5k miles after complete car power loss (5 weeks in shop, probably caused the 12V battery failures)
So far we only have GratedWasabi, peter, and myself who have likely had battery cell issues (in this thread; I think there may be more who haven't yet chimed in here). McRat and StormRune have/had issues too but slightly different from bad cells it seems.
Mine was a fairly early build but not super early: Late Nov 2018
I've driven 3 brand new I-Pace vehicles for a total of almost 13k miles. Two were 2019 FEs (5kmi on my original, and 2k on a loaner), while the 3rd one (current, 6k mi) is a 2020 HSE. NO battery issues (12V or main), NO black screens or any other serious issue. Why so many cars? I simply couldn't stand the heated windshield distortion at night (discovered post-purchase) and JLR (after flip-flopping for 2 months) refused to allow a windshield swap so I had to do an 'entire car swap' instead. Worldwide I think 20K I-Paces have been sold. If the number of bad batteries was as great as the reports on this forum make it seem, there would be a LOT more press about it.
I had the battery fault error once at around 6000 miles in which the car shuddered to a stop. Luckily I was in the parking lot at my destination and just left the car for an hour or so and the problem had self-resolved. I had persistent blank screens for several days at ~8000 miles. I tried all the tricks, charging to 100%, pulling all the fuses, disconnecting the 12v battery without success. The car simply woke itself up after a couple days as mysteriously as it had went blank.

There are a number of bad batteries on the UK forum too.
Not sure what you mean by "as great as the reports on this forum make it seem" ... each one of us has a bad battery. That's each one of us too many, personally. The rate of bad batteries may not be super high, but hmmmm ... even one in a hundred would be pretty danm bad. And the rate may be higher than 1/100. Plus it's early. Who knows what the rate will be once the initial cars get a bit older, with more miles.
The I-Pace is not a common car, and remember, we're the early adopters. I don't expect to see much press at this point.
