I've been listening to FLAC audio files from USB instead of streaming
The files are 30megs each so they are large, but the quality is fantastic.

I use a software program that rips my Spotify playlist into FLAC files. I create folders and transfer those to my USB drive.
The software auto tags every file so I still see all album artwork

I found this to be the optimal music listing experience.

What method do you use to listen to music?

From what I understand about Spotify, it's highest streaming rate is 320 kbps and is lossy. Recording into FLAC from an original source that's 320 kbps will create a large file, but will not improve upon the original's quality of 320 kbps and will still be lossy. If you record at 320 kbps, the quality would be the same as your FLAC files and would be much smaller in size.

I have used a usb stick and flac files also. I also plug a Fiio music player in which is recognized as a usb hard drive similar to a stick. Lots of options to play music.
