I received an Android phone as a gift.
It does hook to the vehicle as a phone, as AA server, and I can see the directory structure of the phone.
I loaded purchased music from Amazon and Apple onto the phone.
I could play the music using BT and it was crystal clear. It worked better than a USB stick.

Then...

Today I went to play it, and it would play exactly 10.0 seconds of a song then stop. You could cycle through the library of songs, but only hear the first 10 seconds. WTF? Digital Rights give me the RIGHT to play my PURCHASED music on ONE device at a time for PERSONAL use.

Is it:
Apple screwing with me?
Amazon? (unlikely, most content is Apple)
Samsung S10 Android Phone
Android Auto (not using it)
or
Is it Jaguar's fault?

Are you able to see the directory structure of the phone while via connected via BT? I don't think I am able to do that and would be very interested in knowing how I can. Do you have any special software loaded on your phone for it to act as an AA server?

The phone becomes an AA 'server' when you launch AA. The car is just a client, or perhaps a terminal. But I'm not using AA to play music, I'm using JLR.

Connect your Android via BT to the car.
Keep phone in lap to answer stupid questions.
Go to car's Media screen.
Select Source
Pick the right cellphone.
A screen will come up, with nothing playing, and picks on left side.
Select Browse
Pick All Music.

I guess I used the wrong words. I directly copied songs from my desktop into the Android Phone's MUSIC directory.
I do NOT use the Android music player directly or Android Auto. I'm using the phone as a USB stick sort of.

I just play the music through bluetooth with the Google Play Music. Works fine. Moto4X. It plays files I've copied over.

Thanks, McRat. Appreciate the detailed instructions.

There is something strange going on. All 3 formats have the "10 second preview" stuck: Apple Music Store, Amazon Music Store, Old 'ripped' CD content.
Need to isolate who is to blame in order to fix it.
