If the channel is closed by the new grill, then the scooped hood would become a reservoir for rain water… I believe there must be an outlet of some sort. Aerodynamic engineering? Probably not. Interesting to see JLR abandon the scoop and the Polestar 3 take on the design language.

The justification of not having a rear wiper was that the airflow from the scoop flowed over the car (faster because of he scoop) and it pushed water off the rear window (no idea how that works in stop and go traffic in a snowstorm, but that was their story at least). So many EVs in the segment don't have rear wipers (EV6, Ioniq 5, Model Y, E-Tron, Polestar 2, GV60). Taycan, Bolt, and Mach E have one, so not sure if cost is the issue.

hi gents,

that air duct on the original I-Pace definitely makes a difference aerodymanically so it would be a shame if it is gone on the newer cars. I had a trip into the boonies last summer at night and found the front of the car including the grille to be pasted with bug splatter but nothing on the windscreen. In powdery snow you can easily observe how the air travels over the car, so it works!

this is hilarious, recall the claims of the "hydrophobic coating" on the rear glass as well.... not that a wiper would make a difference anyway. Visibility through that back window is terrible and especially at night.

the bright pack makes the grill surround chrome but leaves the center the way it is...horrible clash between the paint/plastic//black and chrome
Black pack is the only way to make it look cohesive
